Hot tub rooms

Hello fellow January TTR travelers. We are Ken and Jodi and we will be stumbling around the grounds from 1/12-1/20. We recently posted a general statement of our eagerness to hear from first timers wanting another perspective and veterans who want to compare experiences of years past.

As we thought about this more, we want to add a third category...those fun people who have hot tub rooms with talent for making friends.

Ok, sure...this may sound like we are just trying to glom off your room. But in realty we can throw in...oh, I don't know... the towels or something!

Ha ha well it's not our place to say how awesome or otherwise we are but we love to party, dance and have lots of fun. Our holidays revolve around laughter and good times so don't expect to see us at the quiet pool LOL.

 

First Timers

We're going January 13-18 for MLK weekend. Wife and I in our mid-30's. What should we expect?

We are also in our 30's and had the same questions going into our first time last January. What you get out of TTR has alot to do with what you've experienced in the past.

TTR is not advertised as a lifestyle resort, although many people there are open to that. It is still sexually charged so expect to see games that promote titillation (no pun intended).

You may see people write about "swayers".... couples that aren't quite swingers, but may push the envelope. It's just our opinion, but that is a big part of the crowd.

The days can be split between the "sexy" pool and the "quiet" pool... the sexy pool is like a club atmosphere with loud music, hot bodies, flowing drinks and interesting games that both embarrass and arouse (depending on the participants). Be sure to get up early to get a chair at the sexy pool...they fill up fast. In fact, since I am advertising this to all first timers, please reserve at least 4 (you're welcome Damian and Julie) more!

I don't recall when, but arrive a bit early to the quiet pool to get in line to make dinner reservations. The first couple days you will find are nearly impossible to get 'good' times as people as much as 2-3 days before you, reserved times/dates. Since you can reserve 3 days out, by day 2/3 you can have your pick of reasonable dinner times.

The nights are what you make of them. The staff puts on entertainment nightly of varying degree of interest. The night pivots around the Paty O lounge where most people meet and hang out until later in the evening when the bus takes people to various clubs/bars.

Steve's "booze cruise" is a good option if you can can make it... a full day of sun, fun, drinks, and food. Isla Mujeres is a neat place if you've never been there.

Drink lots of water, meet lots of people and wear sunscreen!
