Sadly, it wasn't a good day for my nephew Michael. He didn't get drafted. No rhyme nor reason why. But as soon as the draft was over, he got a call from the Vancouver Canucks and they invited him to their Draft Pick camp. Then his agent called and said that 5 other teams called and invited him to their camps also. So I guess there is a chance they can sign him, if they like how he performs at the camps. Don't know if he's decided to go or not, but I imagine he will. And he's eligible for the draft again next year. He only made the minimum age requirement by 2 days this time so he has plenty of time to prove himself and hopefully make the cut next year.

Islander Hockey As much as I HATE winter, I am glad it is hockey season again!! Went to see my Godson play last nite, hat trick and 7-1 win!! Hopefully the Islanders will stay in Long Island and not move to KC, something is wrong with the name Kansas City Islanders!! .... Hockey, Baseball and Boxing the only real sports!! Go Islanders!!
Good luck with the Islanders. With their owner it would be a challenge to be optimistic. It is hard to picture the Islanders in KC, but the NHL did go there once before with the Kansas City Scouts so it could happen again. When you said the KC Islanders just doesn't sound right it made me think of two minor league teams who have great nicknames. We have the Albany Riverrats in the AHL and my all time favorite, the Macon Whoopee. I think it would be cool to have a Macon Whoopee jersey.
I tell people about the Macon Whoopee and they think I'm nuts! I'm glad someone else noticed them! I think they were in the ECHL. I would love to have a jersey too! We have the lovely Toledo Walleye! I guess its better then Toledo Storm! They use to get voted every year for the worst logo!
Just got my fantasy draft team got Backstrom, Chara, Tavares,Iginla & Staal. Not bad!! Our local team is the Providence Bruins, a reincarnation of the old RI Reds, back in the old days! Fantasy team name, Rhode Islanders, hopefully we will fare better than our NY Islanders, lol!!
Well, here we are a little over a month later and the NY Islanders have a solid hold on last place in not only our conference but in ALL of hockey!! Wait until NEXT year! What an embarrassment to hockey-consistently poor!!
