A week from today is the election. What do you see happening? Will they "throw the bums out" or "stay the course?" In NY I see nothing changing as there is too much money available to the powers that be to change anything. We will continue toward oblivion with the same corrupt idiots from both parties.

Got to agree with you, twini, it will be more of the same. We may see the health reform voted out, but no one will be prepared to talk straight with the American people about the sacrifices that lie ahead, if any of the real problems are to be solved.

    Election Ads

We see a lot of your election ads up here. They get worse with each passing election. Both sides are guilty of slinging misleading info mud and outright lies at their opponents. If they talk about themselves it just another round of lies and false promises.

Canadian elections are no better... I'm not taking the high ground here...lol.

Honestly, it like they are producing these ads aimed at 6 yr old sheep. They are completely devoid of any intelligent substance.

The ability now, for anyone to produce and run a commercial, without disclosing the source of the funds or particulars of the group funding them, has made things even more ridiculous.

I think I can hear Nero playing his fiddle....

What Brewster referred to I see as the dumbing down of America. The politicians have fooled us so long that they feel the more outrageous the ad, the more effective they are. Unfortunately, they are probably right. I have to go back to the guy running for governer of Florida who was the CEO of a company that bilked Medicare out of billions of dollars, had his company fined something like $1.5 billion, and was fired over the ordeal. His ads are talking about how dishonest and incompetent his opponent is. I just have to shake my head. Then you've got the former witchcraft practitioner running for some office in Delaware. If this is the improvement the tea party bunch are bringing in, woe to us all.

We have to be the dumbest of all citizens with what I'm seeing. I just saw an article that Obama's approval rating is going up. Huh??? You've got to be kidding me, but sadly the article is right. This is like saying the captain of the Titanic's approval rating is going up as the ship is going down. How could any incumbent of either party have an improving approval rating? I guess the how is that we are really, really stupid.

Ironically probably the best interview with Obama I saw last night on The Daily Show. Stewart even had him on the ropes with a few questions, I would recommend watching it if you haven't.

One VERY good point he made though was that a lot of the stuff people have problems with hasn't even taken effect yet (ie. healthcare reform) and that turning your economy around isn't something that can happen overnight. Anyways I won't stick around and :deadhorse: I just thought I would say that his interview last night was pretty good and worth watching.

Dos, I really don't have a problem with what Obama says. My problem with him is what he does. He loves to point to his healthcare as what a wonderful job he has done and, although his healthcare sounds good, neither he nor his advisors have bothered to address the issues of an overloaded system with no funds to pay for what he has put into law. Every person who has been in favor of Obamacare has talked about how it is such a wonderful idea but noone has any suggestion of what to do with a nation with a declining number of doctors and an increasing number of patients. We may be sneaking into Canada for our healthcare by the time Obama gets done with us.

I will try to catch his interview though. I'm sure someone has put it up on Youtube.

hehe well our ER's are full of people who binge on Export A's and poutine so be ready to wait for an hour or two ;) I think that comedy centrals website should have the interview up though. I'm not even really taking a position as it relates to his speech other than to say he did try to explain as best he could how he saw the performance of the last two years.
