    That would be interesting.
I think I visit about one hotel zone nightclub per year (and that's usually reluctantly!)

Haha well Steve you have a good wife and family, I on the other hand need to make sure all the ladies in visiting in Cancun have as good a trip as possible!

Steve - this is all about perception, and is not in any way aimed at you or CancunCare in any negative way, but to further my meager point on the original topic of this thread "Why are many Americans reluctant to use Pesos?" The perception of tourists from the English speaking countries that research services and goods in Cancun, Coz, Playa & RM on the web is that payment in USD is preferred and even expected.

In this friendly debate , to cite a small example from this site re: your regular boobz cruises.

Price will be $65 per person. Payable on the day. You can not buy 'tickets' at the hotel for this cruise. If you ask the tour guys, they will sell you a ticket but it wont be for our boat. Visa is accepted but I would recommend cash, preferably USD rather than pesos.

Coming from Canada and reading this I would show up with USD to pay for the day, even though it will cost me extra conversion charges - why, because it is the path of least resistance, I want to minimize any hassles on my precious vacation time. I'm willing to pay in the local legal tender, Pesos, but the perception is that it is just easier to use USD.

You may not see it as a local but I believe it is really all about the tourists perception and expectations.

I was at the Royal adults only resort last NYE and rented a jet ski in front of the hotel. The owner of the jet ski company told me 60 dollars US for 30 minutes. I asked how much in pesos and it worked out to be about 15 dollars more. When I asked why she said we like US dollars more. Why this happened I have no idea I just know that when I tip in US dollars I get a bigger smile.
So from this Canadians point of view I do what the countries people like and in Cancun it's US dollars.

Of the scores of products I sell via the site you managed to cite the single thing where money is collected once people have arrived rather than before they leave :)

As mentioned, tours are one of the few things in Cancun that are often listed in Dollars and the company we use for the boobz cruises is no exception to this. Reasons for me encouraging payment in USD for the boobz cruises include:

    - The vast majority of people arrive with and intend to pay with USD anyway.

    - Because the owners prefer payment in USD rather than Pesos - the exchange rate for those using Pesos is usually not favourable. I dont set the preferred currency and dont receive payment directly, the owners of the boat do that.

    - There are normally 5 or 6 boats checking in at the same time, my goal is to get my clients through the payment / check in process as quickly as possible with the least amount of fuss and onto their catamaran as soon as I can. I dont want to have people fiddling with unfamiliar currency holding up the queue for everyone else while those behind them stand in 95F sun craving a beer.

    - The tour is priced (by the owners) in USD and the Peso exchange rate varies every day leading to $65 sometimes being say 780 pesos and the next day it might be 760 or 790. If everyone paid in Pesos I doubt they'd have sufficient change on hand. Plus I like to tell people exactly what the price is in advance rather than say "I don't know right now - wait and see".

Like I said previously, I would like to see all Cancun prices in Pesos and I think it may well end up that way in the long term, but right now that's not the case.

I suppose I could make a unilateral stand on the boobz cruises that I run 12-15 times a year by insisting on pesos, but dont see that as having any major impact on things other than introducing extra hassle for the majority of those concerned.
