Neither... Rubles all the way! sure you CAN use American dollars but make it easy on yourself and just take your bank card and get pesos.
Everyone has a different opinion on this. If you bring dollars, you will be paying more for everything than if you bring pesos, because most places have the exchange rate set at 10 to 1 where in reality it is closer to 13 to 1. The way I see it, for tipping and stuff pesos would probably be better, but have some american dollars with you to pay for stuff that the prices are set in american dollars. for example: Booze Cruise, Trips to bars with staff, etc... I am going to bring a few pesos and then use the Interac machines on the resort for when I need more money. There is an Interac machine on the Resort that dispenses American Dollar and there is one in the Mini Mart out front of the resort that dispenses Pesos.
It's a common question, just one I feel is a little silly in the age of the ATM where you always have access to your money and can get as much or as little as you like. Truth be told we all have opinions but a banker may give you the best advice.
Temptation's Lobby Can I get a bunch of singles(USD) within the lobby or do have to bring them with me? I have read different posts about people having like $100 in singles for tips ect. but I do not remember any one saying WHERE they got the singles from.................??????
money we always just use us dollars. we also use trv checks in $50 amount. avoids the conterfeit issues and never had a problem cashing or using them. as far as the bills-- MUST BE LIKE NEW-NOTTORN OR VERY WORN OR WROTE ON if they are the local guys can not exchange them. also us coins are worthless they can not exchange them either. we always go the bank and get about $25 per day in new issue $1 bills, and double check the other bills. the local guys do not care-- peso or dollars as long the money is coming in. ps the normal staff, maid waiters, etc make about 6 to 10 per day so a little from us goes a long way.
money? I aint bringing any Shtinking money? well.....didn't spend any money at the resort except for tipping ....and then....well.....didn't leave the resort so.... Oh woops....did go on the Boobs Cruise so spent a couple bucks there! HAHAH pesos Dollars Tonnies Loonies rubles....whatevea! Wifey isn't too comfy shopping with no top on so that's a good thing
