Hey Steve (or anyone in the know...) Is this going to impact the typical tourist like us who pay for excursions and tips in US dollars???? Mexico limits tourists to $1,500 a month, restricts dollar transactions to fight cartels | cleveland.com
It should have very little, if any effect on the average tourist. I think the article mentioned that in the tourist areas they bump the limit to $7000 per month per person. That's probably just to keep things as easy as possible for the tourist.
Short answer, I very much doubt it. There was discussion yesterday about this here's the link: http://www.cancuncare.com/forum/temptation-resort-cancun/17093-mexicans-not-accepting-dollars.html
Thanks Steve... a couple who's travelling from England to go to TTR later this month was advised to turn their money into Pesos...
I would always advise Brits to use Pesos rather than Dollars. But that's not because Dollars are no longer accepted, which is what some UK travel agencies are telling their customers.
We had a letter from the travel agent saying not to take $ only pasos. Have not been before so dont know what to do for the best.
