wow.. that's surprising. She's anti-gay, anti-abortion, doesn't believe global warming is man-made, and I'm pretty sure anti a few other things, and is ruled by her religion. While I can understand your worries about the current spending it, surprises me that people would take her with all the things we know about Palin now. That woman scares me.
Whether it´s running a large corporation or coaching a winning team, those with the power to chose always go for the smartest, most knowledgeable person available; someone with a proven record of wise decision making, who also has the capacity to inspire others. When it comes to choosing a president, Americans seem bent on seeing how deep into the barrel they can reach, first with Bush, and now? Could it really be "President" Palin? No one in their right mind would ever have said either of these two were the best America has to offer. What we are doing is conducting an experiment to see if just anybody really could be "President of the United States of America!"
Actually those with the power to chose quite often follow the same level of folly that American voters follow. Statistically you are more likely to be promoted if you are over 6 feet tall, less likely to be promoted if you are overweight, and more likely to be promoted if you are attractive....but not too attractive. Would I want to see Palin as President? No, but I wouldn't want to see Biden or Pelosi as President either. The question was, do I think McCain/Palin would have been a better choice? And yes I do think they would have been a better choice, but I am assuming that McCain is able to fulfill his term. I think most people underestimated McCain. He wasn't a particularly likeable candidate and he had the albatross of Bush around his neck along with the race issue and probably the most incredible media bias I have ever seen. His candidacy was doomed with all that was against him. I do think he would have done a better job than Obama. Obama is intent on making us into a European Socialist State and we just simply can't afford it.
I'm not a big Palin fan, but if want to compare stupidity, then check out Joe Biden. He stayed in the Senate mostly on the coattails of his major campaign contributors. Where are most credit card companies based? Delaware, which just happens to be where Biden is from. Biden is a doofus who rivals Dan Quayle for dumb comments and even dumber actions. Palin? Is she stupid? I'm not so sure. She may be uninformed and she certainly is off the wall on religion, but I really don't think she is stupid.
rdubnpk And besides that, he wasn't even born in America!! Might as well finish off this segment of Fox news with the proper note. At least part of the reason McCain lost was that at least a few of us who haven't totally lost our marbles saw Palin for what she was, a complete ditz with nice hair. For McCain to even consider her as a running mate was an insult to what little intelligence the American voters still lay claim to.
You're not really referring to Fox as news are you? From what I understand you can't become President if you weren't born as an American citizen. Other wise you'd have a terminator running for Prez. *L*
BTW, I don't watch Fox News. Again the question wasn't about Palin being President, but about McCain and would he have done a better job. I voted for McCain because I thought he would do a better job. Was there a risk with his age and Palin being VP? Absolutely, but I looked on the other side and saw a totally inexperienced Obama who had never had a real job and who had a history of consorting with characters like Reverend Wright and William Ayers running against someone with experience and ideas that didn't involve bankrupting this country. Just that simple.
rdubnpk Could have fooled me about the Fox news thing, but I see your point about McCain and experience. The way things have turned out, perhaps he would have been a better choice. But, if Bush wasn't his downfall, Palin would have been.
Do we really want to perpetuate a system that leaves us with these kind of dead end choices? Would that in any case make it a wise thing to do? What´s wrong with a people who accept such obvious folly, when it comes to the process of electing what arguably are the most important figures in the world?

What´s wrong with a people who accept such obvious folly, when it comes to the process of electing what arguably are the most important figures in the world? How can they, by any means, consider this acceptable, with the consequences it produces for all of us? Could this possibly be what the founding fathers thought they were establishing?
