I have a like new set of 600 thread count Egyptian Cotton sheets for a matrimonial size bed. One fitted, one flat and two pillow cases. These sheets were NEVER slept on. Color is like cappucino or a chocolate mile shake. I can send a photo to an email address. $500 pesos is a steal. Reason for selling is simply that I put a queen size bed in my extra bedroom.

What I would really like to do is to trade them for 2 used sets of individual size sheets in pretty much any condition.

I am going to do a post in the next day or so about the orphanage, Casa Hogar Para NiƱos Esperanza in Bonfil that I have been working with the last 3 months or so through my church group. We/they have lots of needs including sheets.

Stay tuned for that. But please start thinking in terms of "when I read TJ's post about the orphans, I am going to help these kids in any way I can." Just get ready and get on board. Every one of these 15 kids has come from an abusive home, many having been placed there by the state, but without financial support.

    Think:
Used clothing for both sexes, Any size ok, they run from age 2 to 17.
    Shoes
    Toys
    Sheets, individual size
Milk, a case of cheap stuff at City Club is about $108
Bulk food items but even small cans add up quickly.
MONEY - Every peso goes for things to help the kids. Yesterday we took them $2,500 worth of mostly food.
Eggs - we took them 30 dozen yesterday and they will be gone in a few days.
MONEY - did I mention that yet?
Diapers - size 5 and size extra grande.
    Shampoo and conditioner for hair.
COMMITMENT - Think in terms of a manageable financial commitment, monthly for 12 months.

    Thanks and Love,

I think I'll take those sheets... I must have "accidentally" erased your phone number though :D I've also got a fair amount of clothing you can take.. although its probably mostly too big for the kids to wear...

    SOLD

    Thanks Life.

And thanks for the generous donation of the clothing. I will put it to good use either at the orphanage or with a needy family.

Hi TJ...I have been donating toys, clothing, school supplies, shoes, etc., etc., etc., through Give A Toy Get A Smile for the last 5 years...we started right after Hurricane Wilma. You're welcome to join us on our "give-aways" anytime. We will be distributing backpacks and school supplies in the upcoming weeks. The we start our official Christmas Drive...the look on the faces of the kids and moms and dads is proceless! Tourists coming to Cancun help keep us well supplied with all the things the kids need. I could always use an extra hand schlepping! Just let me know if you want to join us...

T.J., we'll go through Max's old things and put together a bag or two for you. He's growing out of everything these days. :)

You guys are great. Ben, I will wait to hear from you. Nancy, Jon told me to expect your call for maybe a coffee at Starbucks. Canuck, just say when and I can get them when Max is ready for them to be picked up. Another mom told her kids about this and they made a lovely donation of clothes and toys last week. The kids selected their own toys to donate and "mom" said it was a meaningful experience for them.

    Thanks to all,

T.J, just had a chat with the cast, would CDs also be any good. As a DJ and Tech out here I have lots and lots of music and more then happy to make as many CDs as you need from up to the minute Street wise dance music for the teenages to childrens club dances we use for our kids club out here. I know in my life I have been right down to the very bottom and its all been some form of music that has lifted my spirit. If theres any requests for albums or dances I'm more then happy to knock up a few Cds like I say. :) Hope this may help just a lilttle. Do they have a website at all?. Or somthing I can link them to for more info?. Best of luck dude. Always got time for things like this.

    Ben,

What we receive as donations, that cannot be used for the kids, like some of Life in Cancun's giant pants, will be part of an ongoing garage sale program with 100% of the proceeds going to purchase things for them.

You can get a taste of what we are doing at Cancun Christian Fellowship Riviera Maya Playa del Carmen Tulum Activities Visiting Church Worship.

The bottom photo of the two guys at the electric box are of Pastor Mancilla and my good friend Brian Schaeffer. Brian has been a huge help to the kids. This day was his first or second visit and they had so water. Timing is everything. Working without his normal tools he still made the repairs and they had water within the hour. For a voltage tester, he took a lightbulb, found some wire and stripped off the ends, wrapping it around the bulb, then was jamming the other ends into various things, trying to make the light come on. He only got shocked once, found the problem and fixed it. My important job was to turn breakers on and off. LOL

We have an email list that goes out at least once a week with an update. Would be happy to add anyone to this list if you would PM me with email address and first and last name.

    Thanks to all,

Invitation to Visit and try English Language Church Service

Here in Cancun people come and go so we have a lot of changing faces in all areas of our local lives.

I would like to invite you to visit the church that I attend and have found a great source of inspiration and have made some great friends.

We are a small group but we are mighty. Regulars and guests are 10-20 per week.

We meet at Club Albatross on Nichupte, about half a mile or so on the left after Gran Plaza if you are coming from Kabah. Services begin promptly at 8:55 am. It is a strange time but we need to be out by 10 am as the first of two Spanish services starts at 10:30.

We are Community of Faith and the Spanish church is Comunidad de Fe. We are part of the Community of Faith church in the Houston, TX area. Our weekly message/sermon comes by video upload and is by one of three of the pastors in Houston.

I am happy to give first time visitors a ride to and from to the extent we will fit in my SUV. Sometimes a few of us gravitate somewhere for food after the service. Yesterday 3 of us went to Tacos Rigo.

Additionally there are both a Men's Group and a Women's Group that meet separately on Wednesday mornings.

    Join us if you will.

    Questions welcome.
