As above really, after a universal digital camera case in or around Cancun. Playa Del Carmen is fine also. Thinking it would be great fun to take pics of all the amazing stuff we are doing. Many thanks in advanced!. Ben & Frida
Don't know about cases, but I know I've seen "waterproof" digital cameras for less than $1000mx in many stores... I've seen them at wal-mart, costco, and I think chedrui, in oversized plastic packages that make it clear its for use around water... (pictures of kids in pool and snorkeling, etc..) might be the same as what it would cost for a enclosure plus you wouldn't have to constantly be worried about it springing a leak. Can't speak to how good the pictures are but seems like a better bet than risking your pricier camera in a case to me...
The only "universal" protection I've seen are the "plastic bag" protectors, saw them in Plaza Forum in the hotel zone though I am sure there are other places. I have a hard case that was made for my specific camera model, but it came from the US, haven't seen them here. It's Sony, been using it for years with no problems. Haven't tried the plastic baggie kind of cases, but talked to a couple of people who had them and they were satisfied.
I just popped to Walmart but could only find the old film type that went underwater? Edit just to add thanks for the help so far, I have no problem paying 1000 peso for a unit either.
Old film type... yikes they still make those? The ones I've seen were definitely digital.. but they're probably not in the camera display but on an "island" somewhere due to the large plastic display packaging they are in.. I saw one for sure yesterday at Costco right next to the memory cards.. but I don't recall the price..
Yes, but if you're feeling lucky someone in the line in front of you might let you use theirs when you "realize you left yours at home" :blueshock: You should be able to walk in to look without a problem.. if there is someone at the door asking you to show a card just ignore them.. that's what I do since it bugs me that they bother their clients like that randomly.. saying jibberish in English as you walk by also helps since they won't know how to respond. :icon_mrgreen: but most times they don't ask for a card unless you look like you have no business there... so try not to look completely broke when you walk in. :icon_wink: You might check chedrui and soriana too.. I know I've seen them.. but there is no telling what they have in inventory today.. as no stores here seem to know how to properly manage their inventory... all I can tell you is the ones I'm thinking of were in over sized plastic packages with water activities pictures on them... then again I don't know how good my advice has been lately... :aktion034: but they do exist.. I'm reasonably sure about that :icon_mrgreen: EDIT: Nevermind the Costco advice.. just was there and didn't see them anymore.. all they had were the disposables 2 pack... must be a hot item...
