    Hello everyone!

Im tired of Mexico City and really looking forward to move to Cancun (again) but im looking for a job, a good one... i cant really move without the certainty of some good money lol ive done it before and it was quite hard lol

So, if anyone know of any available position at a hotel or a company, please let me know.

Im an executive assistant (aka secretary) have worked for a major accounting firm for over 5 years, 95% english (writen and spoken), and also did a bunch of things while living there like selling vacations, tutoring an american kid, tour guide, assistant... im mostly looking for an administrative job.

I know im asking for a lot, but if you guys know bout something, pleeeeease let me know!

    Thanks a million!

Have you tried CompuTrabajo? It's not a great time to be looking, seems as though a lot of companies are firing, not hiring these days. Will keep my ears open for you!

Assuming we can trust the statistics and Cancun is only slightly more expensive than the DF how much would you need to make- free of taxes- to live the lifestyle you require?

Don't be shy Mormis! Nobody reads this forum anyway :icon_wink:

That's sweet of you to say Mormis and I'll let you know if I hear of anything "hot"

The people I'm best acquainted with earn between 18-25000 pesos per month net after taxes so it's doable but that may not be representative of the first thing you'll fall into here

There are plenty who earn less but knowing what the market will bear helps when it comes to setting a salary: people will sometimes pay more if you think you are worth more and they happen to need you badly enough- but being flexible may be the key to breaking into this market

Good English-Spanish combined with management skills seem to get the better salaries here

In the long run accepting too little initially can be a handicap later when you want and need more

I think it's fair to say V, that the people you know are probably not very representative of Cancun workers as a whole.

I have no real figures to work from but I would not be surprised if 80% of workers in Cancun made less than 18,000 net per month and maybe 90% less than 28,000 net.

Good luck with the job hunt Norma.

Steve this could absolutely be true yet not be representative of the types and quality of jobs she might choose to apply for here

A lot will depend on what kind of resume and skills she can bring to bear: to be as well paid in Mexico City as she is she would have to have some qualities employers are looking for

In any case her salary requirements are her own to decide and she may be willing to accept less to get the ball rolling- though that has it's risks as I've already mentioned

She won't know what people are going to be willing to offer until she tries the market here: the most recent hire I've personally heard of was at 15000 pesos net for a writer-translator in the tourism industry
