    Rumor mill stuff...

Talked to a very reputable source yesterday that does a lot of booking for the hotel and he said that the resort is still looking at all options.

They need at least 65% occupancy--consistently--to make a full-time Desire worth their while.
Apparently the last Desire week earlier in the year was a success with 85% occupancy.

Obviously rates would increase like they will be for the upcoming Desire Week (the Temptation resort has been a downright bargain for those who shop around for cheap rates) but the quality--drinks, food, increase in staff etc--would all improve for the Desire gig.
Those who frequented Desire in the past know that the quality has fallen off tremendously with the Temptation branding. Still fun? Absolutely, especially for the money, but certainly not the same.

One of the possibilities being floated is the chance that the resort would adopt a "Desire" format June through October or something along that line.

Again, much is predicated on the numbers...

Yes, flights from Miami (connecting in MX City or Houston) start at $550 each..i've seen less but with an overnight layover in MX City ughhh! Cancun is so much cheaper, we get deals out of Ft Laud for $150 each direct rt sometimes...even less if we use our Spirit miles...But we really want to go to Cabo so will hold out for sales in 2011.

The flight price posting has a lot to do with temptqation changing back to Desire. Desire is a lot more money than TTR. So Desire brings in a higher paying customer.
Cost is not a big issue to us. In 2011 we are trying desire cancun. In Oct 2010 we try TTR cabo or Desire cabo whatever it is, we will be there!!

    Back on topic.....

We received this emailed info from Right Connections Travel that pretty much spells out what most suspected concerning Desire and its return...

[We need your support here! Many couples have called and requested the return of the Desire Resort concept in Los Cabos. Couples miss this special clothing-optional and liberated vacation environment just two hours from Southern California and Arizona. There is plenty of relaxation, socializing, pool games, drinking, meeting new friends and partying with old friends. In many cases, taking an exotic trip to Desire requires less time than driving to Las Vegas!
Because of the many requests, Original Resorts is considering changing the Temptations Resort in Los Cabos back to the Desire Resort & Spa concept. But to make a huge change like that, management needs to assured they have the support of the couples, and we can keep the resort occupied. We need to convince management there IS enough couples in the Southwest, and more couples from all over the US that are willing to support this resort. We need these clothing-optional resorts with liberal sexually-charged environments for choices in our adult vacation destinations.
Please make your reservation now for the September 1-6, 2010 DESIRE CABOS Take-Over event and help us keep this resort. The take-over party we had the first week of May was great fun and over 80% occupied. Everyone had a great time. The rules were Desire-Rules, clothing-optional, great food, great drinks, roof-top Jacuzzi action and special events and entertainment. There are no issues with the Barcello Resort next door, as the rooms of their 'Adult Wing' face the ocean and not our resort. We have also covered the Rooftop Jacuzzi from the Barcello side for maximum privacy.
Come join us for FUN-IN-THE-SUN at Desire Week in Cabo San Lucas.]

Yeah, they're workin' it sales-wise, but it does seem that it's up to us, the customer, to bring back a full-time Desire.

It gets so frustrating seeing so many couples preferring couples/lifestyle places. C'mon I have said this before and I will say it again, there AREN'T enough places for singles now that are fun like Temptation and there are sooo many adult only couples places...Sandals, Desire to name a few. Hedo 3 is closing and now possibly Temptation in Cabo, what do solo travellers have left?

Having been to both TTR Cabo and Cancun, they had enough fun for everyone as it was and Cabo specifically was a nice west coast place for the solo traveller as an option. How would couples feel if there were super fun resorts that didn't allow them and singles only? Wouldn't you feel a bit slighted?

Club Med has already become predominantly families and now the swingers don't want the singles....give us a break!

I think the swinger/lifestyle group have more selection of their type of resorts than singles who want a party atmosphere.

I think I may have more staycations if this trend continues.

you know i agree with you completely!

some of our best friends are singles and in fact many of them are planning on going with us to cabos in april of next year and would be thoroughly pissed if they were not able to come because of this stupid lifestyle singles discrimination phenomenon

what is the big issue with single guys or single girls? do lifestlye people feel better than them? are lifestyle couples so insecure with their relationship that they would be threatened by a single?

ooooooooh there is a single guy and he might want to look at you or ooooooooooooooh there is a gay guy and he might want to give you a bj

    i mean really?

just seems rather bizzare that a sexaully liberal non judgemental lifestyle person would freak about this and run home to mommy crying about it

    its f'n childish

actually you would think the exact opposite...........that they too would be open minded and non judgemental (as they want people to be towards them) but it appears to be quite the opposite and this is truly sad

t and i have never been to a "swinger" bar...............or if it is more politically correct to call it a lifestyle bar ----------- then a "Lifestyle" bar (if that helps people feel better)

    although

we are considering going to iniquity here in dallas for our annual halloween weekend party

what will be the deciding factor as to whether or not we go there?

they will have to allow us to bring not only thirty couples but a handful of single guys and a handful of single girls

if they dont fuck em - we can take our money to aplace that does not discriminate and spend it well there!!!

i just hope that one day the stereotype/biggot mentality concerning single people will be brought to an end - while we have come a million miles with race and sexuality discrimination - we gots a long way to go with single discrimination...............a very long way indeed

    :(

so if they want to call it Desire or hedo or Temptation or blow me or whatever

we dont give a rats ass

    but enough with the discrimination

it aint ever been pretty -----------and it aint pretty now

Wow, what a rant. Go elsewhere then!
Who needs attitude like that around anyway.
    Yuck!

Fact is that many of us don't mind the singles concept at all! We went to Temptations in Feb and the singles that were there were classy and a total blast. We partied with them for ten days.
We simply want a LS-friendly au-natural location on the west coast.

As far as the couples-only reasoning, there is one full-time lifestyle "couples" option right now that is practically accessible: Cancun Desire. That is it. We live near Seattle so it is a major (read: layover) pain.

As most know, Hedonism allows singles and it is to the point now that there are Russian and European travel agencies promoting packages to large, single-men groups that are all but ruining the experience for others. These guys are promised that they will score with American, Canadian, etc. women and couples with endless nights of sex. What a bunch of crap.
We've been there and have seen it. 98% of the couples there are disgusted with these guys who presume to stare, grope and even masturbate in the presence of others. Totally gross.
Would a Cabo Desire become like that? We think not. Hopefully not anyway.
But some of us just want a couples option on the West Coast. It has nothing to do with "discrimination."

    i hear ya man :)

    and i do understand completely

    you see

my mom and dad wanted me to do that all white "option" when it came to going to school - of course we all know that had absolutely nothing to do with discrimination at all did it?

i think maybe my parents had ill feelings about african american people - maybe they lumped all of them into a group and said "this is the way all african american people are so therefore we dont want them around"

not unlike most (i think the number 98% was a number given earlier) swinger couples do with "swingle" people

sorry about the rant - my bad

    i get it now

    the best

I agree that Desires should stay couples only. I believe the primary reason is to avoid the sausage fest problem. We have thought about going to a clothing optional in the future but I would not want to go where a large group of single dudes would be. The singles at Temptations are respectful but some ruin it. Usually the single guys bring with them fights, power drinking, inappropriate touching and voyuer cameras. It is a shame the few can ruin for the many.
