Me and about 15 of my friends are going to be going to Cancun next summer, either in May or June. Our ages range from 19-21. We want to stay in the Oasis, but judging by sites like expedia and orbitz, it seems like its impossible to get a room! Is it really possible that they already have not even a single room open? Anyhow, The question would be, if we couldn't get into Oasis, which resorts are more friendly toward our age? We don't really wanna be surrounded by a bunch of married couples you know? We're college kids looking to have a great time.
Well, you are seeking advice, so you can take this anyway you want. I seriously doubt the oasis is sold out this far in advance. It's THE Spring Break hotel of choice and most people haven't even thought about booking right now for then. If you are set onthe Oasis, go and see if you can book there, on their web site. But in mho, go somewhere else. You aren't going during sb, so it's not crazy any other time of the year. It's a pretty crappy place really. There are tons of other places, and married couples like to have as much fun as college frat boys. I am not married, but the couples i know that come here, party as hard as everyone else. And married ppl also stay there, so u can't avoid it. Only the ritzy places that are overpriced will cater to an older crowd. I would recommend the riu cancun, riu caribe, royal solaris, gr solaris, temptations or maybe if you HAVE to stay at the Oasis, do the Grand Oasis. Again, my opinion, but you have so many better options.
yeah the riu cancun was one of the others i was thinking about possibly. we're not necessarily looking for a "crazy party", but we would like to be where there are a lot of people our age. your post confirms some of the rumors i've heard about oasis, but it does look really nice from pictures.
Temptations is 21 and over, just in case you didn't know, so hopefully you will not find 18-21 year olds there.
My guess is that it's too far out time wise. I would check it out in a few months and see if they have it up then. Sort of like booking a flight with a flight date more than six months away. Airlines usually don't have them posted.
I work at Temptations sometimes, but was just throwing out names. It's a place i could never stay there....toooo crazy for me
Yeah we were all doing some thinking. We would prefer to be where we won't necessarily have to take a taxi or bus to places like Senor Frogs and the other popular bars. Reviews say the Riu's are close to nightlife, but from what I found on google, it seems like its all shopping areas around there
not sure exactly what you are loking for, but! one thing for certain there is no way you will find anything just at your age range nearest is the riu cancun and even then its more or less 50-50 mix but when we were there we had young american school/college kids mixing with us and they thought nothing of the age difference so really cannot see what the problem mixing with us oldies is. you can always go to a kindergarten or nursery if you wish to stay with youngsters. yes there is a shopping plaza outside the rius but unless you go inside you would hardly know it was there. senor frogs coco bongos and all the nightlife kind of matches in with the shops within the area and it really is a happy medium all just around the corner about 300-400 metres away. my advice is just get on down there and enjoy as you most certainly will oh!!! and for the record there was as many of us married oldies in coco bongos the night we went as there was young kids and everyone mixed and enjoyed so please ease of on us married guys a little as we like our vacations too:icon_wink:
easy man, didn't expect you to take this so personally. the main reason i was looking for my age range is because of all the reviews on the resorts about older people bitching about younger people being loud and whatnot. didn't wanna end up staying on a resort that is uptight about that kinda thing is all.
Another option is to get a hotel as close as you can to Party Center, where you could walk or crawl back there after partying hard. I would suggest the Salvia, a condo hotel. A friend of mine manages a number of units and they are great. They have a penthouse for $250 US per night. The downside is that there is no food and beverage service available but there are a zillion places to eat. Being a condo hotel you have to deal with individual owners or managers so it can be a bit more of an effort to book it. I live in Cancun and got the PH for my daughter and 5 friends and they loved it. 13 would not fit but you can get other rooms at prices less than the Riu. It is close to all the places you would want to go, Coco Bongo, The City, Sr Frogs, Carlos and Charlies, DadyO's, and more. Let me know. You can see pix of the individual units and this far out should be wide open.
