Has anyone had any experience with Mexicana Air? They seem to be offering the best prices at the moment for Direct Flights from the D.C. Area. Not traveling until January but the price seems too good to wait.
We've used Mexicana Air several times - good service, almost always on time The only issue is that for the most part, in order to get to Cancun you have to fly thru their hub location - which happens to be Mexico City (this is where you would also do your Mexican customs and Immigration checks.
I flew with them on my first trip out, the planes were pretty nice, they had free beer, the only issue I had which wasn't even big was having to connect in Mexico City, which has a huge airport with and big line for customs. If you only have a hour between flights your definitaly cutting it close, if not I wouldn't worry about it.
If you can, schedule your Mexicana flight through Mexico City to Cancun about 6-7 hours apart. Check your luggage and check in in Mexico City and go into the city, have a great meal and walk around the Zocalo. We have done this before and had a great time. If you have the time, why not?
We haven't flown Mexicana but the direct Chicago to Cancun always seemed to be the same times as American I always thought they were the same flights?
No, they are different flights. I just checked Orbitz.com and the two airlines have different times and different prices for flights from Chicago to Cancun. Possibly they used to be the same.
Thanks for all of your help They are offering direct flights from Washington Dulles to Cancun. Soooo it looks like we are flying Mexicana. Come on january 4th.... 203 more days, but who's counting! LOL
