the water is safe to drink, most places in cancun have filtration systems. there should also be a large bottle of bottled water in your room in the fridge. if you don't have one just ask the maid and i'm sure you should be able to get one, and don't forget to tip your maid...aprox $2/day should do it, they do a great job....charlene

From what i have been told, all of the Penninsula is on it's own filtration system. So, although it sometimes smells a little off, all the water, from the ice cubes, to the sink in your room that says "water potable" is ok for drinking.

The water's perfectly safe at the hotel. If anything gets you sick, it'll probably be because of the amount of alcohol consumed during your stay!
Enjoy!! You might just end up being a repeater!! :huepfen021::beer4:

also off the resort make sure you break the seal on any bottled water.

We've always found the water safe. One couple on our trip did have a bad smell coming out of their bathroom tap but called the front desk and they fixed it right up.

As everyone else has said, the water at the resort is fine. If you go on excursions, that is where you need to be careful. If you want to be very careful, the drill would be no ice in drinks, no frozen drinks, no salads(raw vegetables), no food from street vendors.
If you are really worried, you can call your dr. in advance and ask for a course of antibiotics to take in case you do get sick.
Most who get sick are drinking too much alcohol, taking in too much sun. It can be very hot.
Personally, I've been to Mexico probably on 40 trips over the years(and many before the water purification systems were around) and have never gotten sick...

I probably drink way too much booze when I am at TRC, and IMO you are more likely to get sick from not drinking enough water than from the water itself. We have been to TRC lots of times and neither one of us has gotten sick from the tap water, ice in any drinks, or from the water or drink in any of the restaurants or bars. I am not sure about a couple of the entrees at the buffet.

The tap water is fine for brushing your teeth or taking a pill or two, but not really very tasty. Actually way more taste than I prefer in water.
