Bad idea to arrive on a Saturday?

We are booked to arrive on Saturday, January 8, for a week (our first visit). From some of the posts I gather that there is a risk of getting "bumped" for the first night due to overbooking. I haven't bought the plane tickets yet and we have some flexibility in our vacation dates, so I could probably shift my reservation to arrive on either Friday or Sunday.

Are Saturday arrivals often a hassle? Is there a time by which we could arrive on Saturday and be reasonably sure of not getting bumped?

we have had several starting days on saturdays and never a problem. we always try like hell to arrive in the am and depart in the evening hours. seems lately a lot of the trv companies like a late afternoon or evening arrival and early morning leave time. about as ass backwards as ya can get. should be a law no flights leaving cancun until at least 3pm--no more short last nights.

 

Mainers...Have been to Temptations 5 times..Always arrived on a Sat. Like Rkxsk said..I never had a problem..My room may of not been ready...Just carry a swimsuit in your carry on and change into it and join the PARTY at the SEXY pool!!!:headbanger: :aetsch004: :cool014:

 

I posted it before but in case you didn't hear it from me. Last December (2nd week) we left on a Sunday. Speaking with people that morning, a guy told us that thier friends got bumped the night before (Saturday). Waiting in the lobby, met someone sitting at noon waiting for a room to get cleaned. Said he got there late on Saturday and there were no rooms so they sent him to another resort. T, from the cast, said that they overbook on Saturdays because they don't want to lose the business but a lot more people check in than check out on Saturday's. I would get there before noon. Like Icecube said, the earlier you get there, the earlier you can get to the pool. have the suit ready.

A few couples got bumped in Feb. when we were there. Some were sedt to Desire, ( I wish we had been bumped to there for a day or two) and some got the executive suite at Blue Bay. Neither one complained a bit. My advice, don"t worry about it. If it happens, you won't be that inconcenienced, and it will be a great story. Larry

 

Lunch ?

If we arrive at noon or thereabouts & our room isn't ready, can we still get lunch?

Most definitely. Our room several times wasn't ready until around 3:00. We grabbed some lunch and hit the pool.
