You must have pesos for the bus, I belive it was 0.60 each. Super cheap! Cabs will take dollars usually.

just take the us bills. be sure all money is in like new condition. no writing on the bills, worn or torn. if so the local guys can not exchange or spent it. also us coins cannot be exchanged. we take trv cks in 50s--no problems anwhere. also take 25 per day just for tipping in $1 bills. we just go to the bank and ask for new bills. just tell them its for the strip joint.

I believe he is suggesting that you tell your banker that you need the singles for the Strip Joint. There are no safe “Strip Joints” in Cancun unless you are with a local and know Spanish. The good news there are a lot of women who paid to stay at Temptation so they can be topless.
So.. Topless fun loving women, who don’t want your money, you can talk to, and all you can drink for one price, next to a warm pool. …better than any Strip Club I know.

We have never exchanged bills, never had a problem.

Look at it this way. If you were a small business in the US would you like to figure out the "exact" change if someone paid you in pesos, or euros? If you know the current ( I goo 12.6 last week) exchange rate and you have a lot of time to haggle with a taxi driver or a bus driver, then by all means pay is US dollars.

Or, get about $500 in pesos (again, around $45 US), pay the guy on the street in pesos, figure which is the better deal in the larger stores. And tip the bejuses to the staff with US dollars.

    Just my opinion,
    Jim

cancun basicly has a dual money ecomomy. the us dollar is widely accepted and in my opinion prefered some places. the local merchants are more than happy to accept either the peso or the dollar and they are very good at the exchange rates. as far as the little local street vendor he looks at any business as great. and yes this outlook is mainly torward the tourist areas.
ps we always figure on the "loose" exchange rate of 10 to1-- easier to keepup with.
