Hi there everyone....we will be at TTR in 7 days and I was just wondering, can I buy cartons of cigarettes at the hotel? I smoke Marlboros. If so, do they taste the same and how much are they? Dirty habit, I know. Thanks all for the answers Terri
At the airport, last time we went I got a bottle of Jack and my brother got a carton he said they were fairly cheap.
You can buy a carton at the Duty Free right after you go through Customs, in April a carton of Malboro Lights was $23. I'm sure they have them at the resort but it will cost alot more.
Right on....thanks guys! Ace, did April say that they tasted ok? Or has she ever complained about the taste? I smoke the same thing she does, just want to make sure because I won't pack a ton of smokes if I do not have to.
I am not a smoker anymore but when i was in Mexico years ago and did smoke i thought they definitly had a different taste. I couldn't wait to get home and smoke American cigs! I suggest buying a carton here and bringing them with you and if you run out then buy as you need.
Mexico cigarettes not the same! My husband and I both spoke Marlboros and we ran out (seriously...so bad) during our last trip to Cancun and we bought some at the hotel....SO NOT THE SAME! They do taste a little different but we both had the worst heartburn feeling afterwards...it was weird! They'll do in a pinch, but we always buy a carton at home and open it and stuff them everywhere in our suitcase, usually in our shoes If you don't mind, I am sure you'll be more happy with the ones you are used to.
I may end up stocking up there before I leave if the wife allows me (she's a non-smoker). We have the must $%#@'d liquor laws, new tobacco taxes go into effect on 1 July and now this... From our local news in Salt Lake city: Starting June 22, all cigarettes labeled "light," "low-tar" and "mild" will be prohibited for sale in the state, and retailers must start phasing them out. The Deseret News reports the ban is part of the Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act, signed into law last year. A new provision requiring larger warning labels on smokeless tobacco packages also goes into effect next week.
AFraizier....don't worry about this to much. We own a liquor store and are totally up with alll the tobacco laws. The FDA is now regulating tobacco. They are all going to be the same cigarettes, just a different lable. They can't use the term "light" or "ultra lights" or anything that would give the impression that one cigarette is better for you then another. As far as the increase, most increases have already gone into effect. Phillip Morris already increased their prices May 31st (I think that was the date). If you have any other increase, it will be from your state or county. Here in California, there is a new tax proposal for a 60% increase on ALCOHOL AND TOBACCO. I am not sure if that is only for California or if this is a Federal tax and will be imposed nationwide. The last time that this kind of proposal was on the ballot, it did NOT pass. Thanks to everyone for the tips and PM's on this subject. I probably will be smoking double....so maybe I will bring a carton and buy one there and trade off
