as said before common sense goes a long ways. been in law enforcement 33 plus years and yes even in little rock some places you can get your hubcaps stolen at 30 mph. is that how they invented breakdancing ??????

I was right there with you before my trip in May, worried about all the crap you hear on the news in the USA and reading articles. Honestly I was not nervous one bit the whole time in Cancun and we ventured out A LOT (but not in the bad parts of town). You will be just fine if you just go to the hotel zone etc. and just remember there are 1,000's of other tourist doing the same thing you are doing. I would go back to Cancun today if I could with no worries one bit of getting killed by the cartel. What eased my mind some was when I started comparing the distance from the border to Cancun which is like driving from NC to NY, I think. The point is when people are getting killed in NY I don't think they are coming to kill me in NC. I really think that the USA is just out to get Mexico all together right now because of all the immagration stuff. You should go and HAVE FUN, if not sell me your ticket, hahaha.

I would think the only bodies that you might trip over at TTR... and highly doubtful are drunken bodies, I haven 't tripped over one yet...LOL

Those of us here in the Florida panhandle no longer specilaize in sunshine. We, instead, are having our tourists locate and remove the tar balls washing up from the BP fiasco. Fun for the whole family...

    Hmmm.... but is it safe?

Don't mean to poke fun, we think its horrible what is happening. Watching the news last night and seeing a man break down in tears... words cannot express how very sad this is.

LOL!!! I appreciate the humor and apologize for dwelling on this. But, the man in tears could have been me. It's watching the place you love and have spent most of your life teetering on disaster. For those of you who obviously love TTR so much, and it is a fun and wonderful place, picture an oil slick of its coast.

I don't think there is any need to apologize, this disaster and the effects of it will go on for years and years, I don't think anyone has any idea all the implications this will and has caused. My heart goes out to everyone and everything that will be affected now and in the future. I for one cannot imagine what it would feel like to have your whole way of life and the lives of people around you changed or taken away because of stupidity.. and most likely because of a few bucks. I'm not positive but I think that the proper safety precautions were not in place. And we know why... the almight dollar..
