steve-can you remove this since this can scare everyone away from Cancun. I would even go as far as to bar this person.

I agree, gabesz, this article and person need to go. This is a poor attempt at a scare tactic.

This is the Los Angeles Times (racist, IMO) list of people who died/were killed in the Los Angeles area, and NOT relative to Cancun at all. Apararently LA has a LOT more crime/murders. I'll take Cancun over LA anytime. Cancun is MUCH safer.

I think by posting a list of homicides in Los Angeles the poster is trying to make the point that Cancun is safe in comparison. More Americans were murdered in L.A. this week than have ever been victims here in Cancun. At least I think that's their point. :)

I think his point is that the city of LA is more dangerous by itself than the country of Mexico due to the overall murder rate. The link does not address Mexico although I've seen some pretty disturbing numbers lately. However if I were to research the number of murders in the US during the same period Fox reported on, I'm sure it would be even more disturbing....I could be wrong though...

Not near bad enough to keep me away. Murders happen in all our cities all the time but it doesn't turn us into hermits. Don't let the media make you fearful...their ratings depend on us buying into their hype!

Click the link guys - the post is trying to show that Cancun is not really that dangerous compared to some places in the US.

I see it was edited 4 hours after the original post, so maybe it wasnt that clear unedited.

Steve, I was trying to be sarcastic in the original post but i guess some people didnt got it, (I don't mean to offend them ) I lived in LA and Oakland for years and even theres really nice areas and alot of culture in those cities, is dangerous as dangerous can be. please change the title of the post to something of your choise, thanks!

Thanks for editing/clarifying your post to read that you are referring to LA. Sometimes sarcasm can be looked at differently by people thinking about coming to Cancun. Rumors of problems in Cancun now seem to abound in the U.S., as I'm sure you're aware, and a lot of people assume that what's happening elsewhere in Mexico is severely affecting Cancun as well (as discussed in other posts here). I've been to Cancun countless times over the years, lived there for a short period, and will do anything I can to defend my "home away from home."
