Is it only my neighborhood that the garbage men have forgotten about? They have not been by for a week to 10 days. Caught the neighbors pushing all their garbage in a pile by my house yesterday and when I take the dog for a walk there is areas where I can not even go on the sidewalk without having to step over bags of trash. Normally it forces me into the street. Might be time to rent a truck and "drop off" my garbage in front of the trash company's entrance door if they don't come by in the next day or two? Anyone else having issues right now?
Yup!!!! It's piling up outside everyone's houses here in SM504. They came last week and that was only I guess because there was a political rally in our park.
Yeah, definitely. In Tikal they used to come by every night around 11 or 12. Lately it's every 3 or 4 days.
Yes, they've disappeared from our area too. Used to be daily first thing in the morning. Fortunately the neighbours are pretty good at not letting garbage pile up outside their homes. However, what we now have at the end of the street is a huge pile of garbage that stinks to high heaven piled against two full dumpsters. It's also raked over several times a day by people looking for recyclables so it's scattered all over the place.
There is an article in todays Novedades about this matter. Apparently the garbage collection service has collapsed as the headline puts it.
I remember hearing before that the owner of the garbage company was Greg Sanchez's friend and this was how they were able to get away with the terrible service. Now it appears that they guy may be refusing to pick up in protest to Sanchez's arrest. I was fortunate to arrive home to a clean street yesterday myself mind you. The mother in-law is staying with us and arranged for our street to be picked up and haled away. The cost for this was only 350 pesos, split amongst 6 as the other 2 would not pay. So not bad for 8 homes. If anyone wants the guys number they can let me know.
LTL, good for you for going proactive on that. Organizing a collective effort is not always easy. Glad yours was successful. Yesterday's Novedades seemed to say the city thought they'd be resuming service by last evening: we did have a pick up, yesterday, which was good because things were just starting to back up here in my neighborhood, where lots of businesses in the area generate lots of trash, everyday.
I noticed it in SM 32. After two nights I thought about taking my personal trash, with nothing tying it to me, and tossing it over the fence at the garbage company office or compound or depot or whatever. But maybe that would be considered a demonstration and not allowed. Better think of something else. My truck is starting to stink. Bienvenidos a Mexico ! ! !
