Seriously........if you're at all concerned and from the US.....call the State Dept and hear what they have to say.
we were there in March...and no worries....why would you be worried of a major city that is so populated with tourists from other countries....Is it safe to walk around in the Bronx or Harlem ? is it safe to walk in certain parts of Georgetown DC or certain areas of Philli....depends...so just as any city.....they all have a bad area...but as streetwise people....just be careful....but don't worry....I feel safe walking anywhere....i just don't go looking for trouble....
Ok, so I did wht Dave and Ellie said and sure enough the State Dept is NOT recommending people from the U.S to travel if not necessary. They said that the the level of warning in Mexico is the highest that they have. They are recommending that if you do travel there then you should register with the embassy so that they know that you are a U.S citizen and you are there.
They also said to not travel to Mexico during the "Swine Flu"....nothing more then hype. I read all the news on the recent killings, sadly, the victims appear to have been somehow related to the drug cartels. The other recent shooting at the quincenera (sp. correctly?) must have been also drug related.....because guests at that party started shooting back....um, if you are not involved in something illegal...then why are you packing heat at a 15 year old bday party? Go, have fun.....drugs, gangs, psycho's are everywhere. With that said, I believe when it is your time...it is your time.....
we agree and we're coming........just posted so folks could make an informed decision on their ow.................and yes....when it's your time it's your time..............but not interested in speeding up the date....lol......it's coming soon enough!
It would be a good idea if you actually researched your claims before spouting wrong and alarming 'information': Here's the latest US Travel Advisory in full: Mexico It advises against travel to some parts of Mexico, notably border regions. It does not specifically mention Cancun at all in the whole article but does state:
Pardon me. I spoke to the US State Dept by telephone this morning to receive the information. So I did research my claim!
