I didn't want to get off topic on another thread so I will post a quote by Gabesz, and then address it by example. I am not trying to start an argument, rather trying to clear up what may be an overly broad comment about the Salvia that could impact a very good friend of mine, who manages multiple properties there. Hola Gabesz, I will admit that I don't know a thing about the condos you are referring to, but I know a bit about the ones at the Salvia managed by my good friend, Brian Schaeffer. We all know that condos are individually owned and are subject to the whims, budgets, etc of their owners. I am sure that there are good ones and not so good ones at the Salvia and at VRBO. BUT, you paint with a pretty broad brush when you say " but the properties are nicer and rooms are better at lower prices", when referring to VRBO. I must take a little exception. I challenge you to back up that statement with photos, prices and facts of VRBO units, that I ask you to compare with the following units Brian manages, that I have personally seen, at the Salvia. If VRBO is nicer and cheaper than these I will truly be surprised. Photos of these units can be viewed at: Cancun Mexico Condos by clicking on the unit numbers. PB3B - This unit could be featured in a designer magazine. I stole ideas when I remodeled my apt in downtown Cancun, on which I never fail to get compliments when see for the first time by a guest. Walls, floors, bath, kitchen, appliances, decor, furniture, art, ocean view. From $100. 302B - A spectacular unit. Cabinets, counter tops, floors, bathroom, decor, ocean view - From $85. I could live in this one. 601A - Pretty snazzy for only $85. Nothing stands out but snazzy fits. 801A&B - Can be rented as a studio, a room or both. Very, very nice. Beautifully appointed and furnished. Granite counter, stainless steel frig., wood cabinets. Awesome. Can sleep up to 8 for $175. I watched this one get gutted, walls and doors moved and redone from floor to ceiling. A couple of years ago I rented Penthouse 4 during Spring Break for my daughter and 5 of her sorority sisters. None of these kids are poor and all are well traveled. They could not believe the specatacular wraparound balconies and the view and how big it was. It is really a townhouse. They could not have been happier in the Presidential Suite at the Plaza in New York City. I rest my case. Again, I just don't want anyone to get the wrong impression about the quality available at the Salvia Condos, with its spectacular location and affordable rates. The only thing that may not appeal to the masses is that it is not all inclusive. Cheers,
TJ-I didnt read the other thread, but thanks for posting the link, I'm emailing to check availability (at Salvia) for a December family trip...do you know of any owners at Carisa y Palma? thats the other condo I was considering, due to locations!
Hey T.J. I've stayed at Salvia 4 times over the years. I love that place. Now.. I have not been there since Wilma went thru, but, I have been by there over the years. Salvia is what it is. Its a nice place with a good beach and right in the middle of the Cancun party zone.:lotsofmichaelfs::beer4: Now for people that does not like AI, its a great choice and the price is good too.
Hey FloridaFun and cancuncouple, Sorry but I don't know any owners at Carisa y Palma. I know Brian who manages a bunch of them and I know some Salvia owners, not all fo them who rent out their units. The beach at the Salvia was part of the recent restoragtion program and is 80-100 yards of sand. Absolutely beautiful and huge. After Wilma and then after Dean, it was a mess. More rocks than sand. I can email photos of the beach from March, when my daughter was here and from last week when I ate at Chili's which is next door in the Plaza Forum by the Sea. And thanks for confirming how nice the Salvia is, at least on a unit basis. I don't know Gabesz and this thread is the only time I have not agreed with her posts. Thanks again, T.J.
TJ: First I am not a she. I do not want to get into an individual unit by unit, complex by complex debate with you or anyone else on the forum. I would suggest that each visitor who is looking for a condo rental compare all the rentals on VRBO and other sites where condo rentals are posted and go from there. However one has to note for the sake of Salvia, other then its location by the entertainment zone, it really is nothing unique. If anything if you want to stay somewhere nice try some of the other condos near the entertainment zone, some of which are neighbors of Salvia. Also travelers have to keep in mind that some places have penthouses some do not. Some penthouses come with furnished rooftop decks. Decor is very individual and it depends on the owner of a condo what that may be, so again you may not see two units decorated alike in one condo building. There are differences that each traveler must look at and not just price and location alone. I only want to give the option to travelers to look at other condos whose prices may be less for the same or better then Salvia though they indeed may not be in the entertainment zone. Keep in mind that many people do not want to be near the crowds and the nightly noisy area and prefer to stay elsewhere where its very quiet and all they hear is the ocean.
Gabesz, 1. Sorry for the she / he mixup. My bad. 2. My only complaint was what I quoted you said in your initial post, that is again highlighted below: Originally Posted by gabesz If you decide that you want the condo route try other condos on VRBO as well since there are many more out there which are far superior to Salvia in many ways. They may not be as close to what Salvia is close to but the properties are nicer and rooms are better at lower prices. Now please look at what you just posted in the Quote block above. Now you are saying "may be less for the same or better " which is a total contradiction to what I took umbrage with, when you stated "but the properties are nicer and rooms are better at lower prices" As you and the other readers can see, your recent post is absolutely NOT what you said previously. They are either "nicer and better at lower prices" or they "may be less for the same or better." Not both. I have zero issues with any of the other comments you made in either post. I will add that for the Salvia condos/units managed by my friend, you can see on the website what you rent and that is the unit you get when you arrive. Maybe you can and maybe you cannot on the place you suggested. I apologized for male/female mistake and I have made my point and also have no interest in carrying on this matter with you in this thread. I will let the other readers make up their own minds about the Salvia. I always enjoy your posts. The one on the other thread just did not sit well with me as I felt it was simply not accurate, and stated why, providing a link where the photos could be seen, along with the rates. Sorry if that offended you. You did not rebut or challenge my post at all other than I called a he a she, and again, that was in error and again I apologize.
TJ, Do you have contact information besides that link? It wasnt working when I tried to request info and there is no email or phone number...pls PM me if you have any info, if you dont mind thanks.. And btw, location, for this coming December trip, is most important, we dont mind crowds or noise, thats actually what we want lol, being that were travelling w/ my son and his friend (both age 20)..a condo would be great, so open to any suggestions...sorry to interupt your topic discussion though, guys!
Will do now Floridafun. I did check the link and it took me right to it. Cancun Mexico Condos You might try this and roam around. But I will PM you more contact info. Brian is in Florida at the moment, returning Tuesday. If you want to PM me with an email and maybe a phone, perhaps he can contact you.
TJ: You obviously have the right to your opinion re Salvia. That is fine and I have no problem with that. As for the proper english usage sorry about that. But I think you know what I meant. As for the web site, indeed your friend has the units he manages or rents on his site. However on VRBO or similar web sites you cannot show all the units you may rent therefore one would have to contact the advertiser to see what is availabie other then what is posted on those sites. There are many advertisers on these sites who rent not only their own units but others in their individual complexes but due to the restrictions placed on them they have no choice but get you photos of the units you will actually rent through e mails vs. on the advertising site other then their own web site. So yes you can indeed rent rooms in many complexes but you will depend on the person you are dealing with to provide you the proper information. This happens all the time in Cancun and for that matter other places as well where vacation rentals exists. Since VRBO is cheaper to create an ad on then doing it on ones own, plus no real skill is needed for it, this is the way many go. And tourists should be aware that just because they see a unit advertised on VRBO that unit may not be available, but the advertiser may be able to arrange another unit for the tourist in the same or another complex. Of course if the tourists do not get the unit as promised in the photos sent by the advertisier, they have a right to complain. But that is something that rarely happens in Cancun at least. You did not offend my in any way. I however want to make sure that you are aware that I am a he and not a she, since my wife would have major issues after many years of marriage if I turned out to be a she.
Cool MR. Gabesz. We are both just trying to help with the questions we see on this Cancun Info forum.
