This agency is designed to protect the taxis and will stop transfer vehicles if there are clients inside. Sintra will ask the clients how much the transfer is and how they pay. Sintra is looking for any services which they feel should go to the taxis instead. This is not a problem on arrivals, since the taxi union is not allowed to take people from the airport out. It is on departures that we have the problem. Therefore we (and all transfer companies) are no longer able to allow clients to pay part on departures. So does this mean that SINTRA (and taxis) will be lurking around the hotel zone looking for those that are leaving?? And what if we wanted to take a taxi to the resort from the airport? They wouldn't take us??? (We don't want to use a taxi.... Just speaking hypothetically!)
dumb question but never dealt with pesos before. I have some peso bills my wife gave me from when she was in Cancun years ago. I think I have a total of 60 pesos so how much would the full amount transfer be in pesos if it is $55 dollars ($677 pesos). Just making sure I am figuring up this pesos vs. dollars thing before I arrive Saturday. I plan on spending dollars more because I don't want to do the math everytime I buy a beer. Thanks
NCSURF - please email me your account number and I will update your transfers and send you new vouchers...the important one being your departure confirmations showing prepaid. brant@entertainment-plus.net Arrivals: Taxi union is not allowed to take people from the airport to hotels at this time. Departures: Lurking, possibly. If you have a voucher showing prepaid they won't have anything to do with you. If bellboys or taxi drivers see you have a balance due, well, then that could be an interesting experience. We are trying to avoid that. If you want to take a taxi from hotel to airport, that is fine too, you will have to pay their rates. Almost everyone here takes US dollars, so no worries there!
So it is going to be something that is policed a bit more at the resort and not just being randomly pulled over and the passengers questioned?
Especially if it causes someone to miss their flight! IMHO paying in advance is not an issue, but I would hate to be sitting on the side of the road while the "situation" is discussed and the clock is ticking.
That's why EP have implemented what they have, so there is no chance of it happening for their customers. I'm sure the taxi drivers will be paying bellhops etc a finders fee for every case they can find
I would like to confirm what Trina and Steve are reporting. I have known Brant Boston for over 10 years. He is the very first person I met here that I would call a friend and we remain great friends to this day. I have heard countless "war stories" over these many years. I have known Trina, and her hubby Bundy, having met them when Trina started working there. We even rode thru Hurricane Wilma together. "We Are Family" as the song goes. I am even Uncle T.J. to their girls, even though you would probably call them doggies. Their is absolutely nothing fishy or shady going on here. Trina and Brant and others are working tirelessly to resolve this situation, that most of us would refer to as Gov't B.S. The taxi union, called a sindicata (how appropriate is that?) is very strong here. One thing that I have never been clear on, and maybe Trina, when she gets her head above water, can educate and enlighten us all. I travel a lot and every time I arrive back here in Cancun, guys are asking if I need a "taxi". What Trina is referring to when she is saying "taxi" is what we see running all over town, the smaller vehicles, like the Nissan Tsurus, tiny station wagon variety and the bigger Chevy Suburban vehicles, all of which are white with the green trim and look and act like taxis. But Trinita, what are these guys trying to talk me into when they say "taxi?" when I exit the Customs area and also when I get outside both Terminals 2 & 3 and have to fight my way through them to clear the area? Are these just other transportation companies trying to sell their services on the spot or are they gypsy cabs or what? For sure the white and green taxis cannot under any circumstances take a passenger FROM the airport. I have posted on this board for about 7 years and can assure everyone that USA Transfers, a part of Entertainment Plus, is first class, commited to customer service and satisfaction. You guys can take that to the bank.
Ummm, you should really read the rest of the thread. We've already determined that the emails are legit.
Ok heres what you need to do if you are confused by this SINTRA thing with USA Transfers (like I am). I went on their website http://www.entertainment-plus.net/tour_transport.cfm?aff=ancu2 and did a live chat with a support rep and it helped ALOT, instead of trying to figure out what to do from threads on this forum (which can be CONFUSING I've found). I gave them my name and account # they then emailed new voucher forms to me so I can replace the old ones that are NO GOOD NOW. I am choosing to pay CASH to the driver tomorrow when we get picked up that way if we DO NOT for some reason get picked up I have not lost out on $55 because I prepaid. The way I look at it is if I have to pay $55 just for a ride from the airport to the resort I feel like I got my money's worth (according to what I have read about how much taxi fares can be). I'm sure EP will still pick us up on 5/22 like they are scheduled to but now I am kind of worried that things will get overlooked because of this new regulation. I recommened doing the live chat if you feel uncomfortable about the new regulation and it may clear up a lot of things for you.
