heatandsun - My buddy just got an iPod touch and was trying to find a single gizmo for the mic and earphones output. Is that something that exists and can be purchased locally. It is my understanding, but he is goofy and I am not certain, but he seems to think that the alternative to the gizmo is to separately connect the mic and the earphones. Can you enlighten me on this?
I think it came with the unit but if not, it's just a set of earplugs with a mic and volume control on the wire. Probably check the apple store online? I used it to call on skype and the other party said it was very clear.
TJ...the 16 and 32 gb ipod touch come packaged with earphones that include a microphone. The 8 gb model comes with earphones only, so if he wants skype capabilities on the 8 gb model, he will need to buy earphones that include an attached microphone...should be relatively easy to get, and it's really that simple. No gizmo necessary...just plug in the headphones with mic, run the skype app, and as long as he's in a wifi spot, he'll be able to connect. The ipod touch, unlike the iphone, does not have a built-in microphone.
