Friends of ours just got back from the Desire week at Temptation Cabo. They met Patricia (the owner of Original resorts - Temptation & Desire's parent company) and a couple of her executives. They were there to check out the occupancy rates and get a feel of how things were going. The occupancy rate was 80-90%. The said they are seriously considering changing Temptation back to Desire since the Barcelo resort next door does not seem to be a factor - they have erected (pun intended) structures that block the Barcelo's view of the resort. I am curious to see what happens...Desire Cancun seems to be doing very well, they are looking for a west coast "outlet" of that resort. We'll have to wait and see what happens.

My fingers are crossed that they change it back.

My finger's are crossed that they leave it as is, or sell it.

Then build another bigger place or buy a nice existing place and turn it into a "Hedo" type resort.

Now that Hedo 3 is closing, and Hedo 2 is an older resort, the time is ripe to offer an alternative accepting couples and singles.

I think a resort of that nature, in Mexico, would go over HUGE. Lot's of people just don't like Jamaica and love Mexico.

The trouble, I suspect, would be in finding staff. I understand that it was difficult for Desire Los Cabos to find and keep people because of the overt sexual nature of the resort. Mexican's, on the whole, are very religious.

    Ditto!

We really enjoyed Desires and would go often.

    "Temptations" just isn't the same.
We'll only go for takeovers in the future...

    Brewster,
We agree...make it a Desire resort that allows singles like Hedo. We don't care for the Hedo resorts and don't care for Jamaica. As far as getting staff to work at Desire, we have talked to many workers there. They said guys are dying to work at that resort...gee, wonder why. They are very selective in who they hire and have no tolerance for staff "mingling" with guests. I think Cabo would be a perfect place for a "hedo" type Desire resort.

    Rob,
We are not swingers "per se" either....we have experimented a little....lol. We have made 10 trips to Desire and would have to say that about 50% of the people there are not swingers.....they are just couples looking to "explore"...that can mean a lot of things to a lot of people. It can be watching or being watched while having sex, it can be just being naked, it can be experimenting with others, it can be having sex on a beach bed at night........ I think people get the impression Desire is full of "hard core" swingers and is a non stop orgy....lol

Personally I don't see this ever happening, the Desire brand was and is built on being a (M/F) couples only resort. That part of the brand formula has highly contributed it's success and differentiated it from the Hedos.

They sure need to do something with the Cabo location since it only average 25>30% occupancy unless there is a group or Desire week when they manage to get it up to 70% for that specific week.

It is pretty much an acknowledged industry fact that it is almost impossible to duplicate a unique resort formula - both Desire RM and Temptations Cancun consistently average 80+% - they have now tried both formats at the Cabo location with dismal results

    Agree with everything you wrote.

We want the Desire back, but don't know that it would be profitable enough to last.
