what is up with the travel warnings for mexico, has something new happened recently other than the normal stuff going on around the borders?
    http://travel.state.gov/travel/cis_pa_tw/tw/tw_4755.html

There is also a travel warning for Georgia here in the USA http://travel.state.gov/travel/cis_pa_tw/tw/tw_4327.html and I was just in Georgia. What gets me is they make the warnings to Mexico sound terrible and the warnings here in the USA you don't hear about until you stumble upon it on the net. I live about 300 miles from Georgia and I'm not thinking twice about violence in my area. From what I know Cancun is a lot further away from all the towns in Mexico that seem to have most of the violence these days.

My point is I wish the USA media would stop talking about how bad it is in Mexico in general when it is mainly on the border towns according to what I read.

Any thoughts from any other forum members?

The warnings don't seem to change much, but they sure like to remind people that they are there.

(p.s., It's the former governor of the state of Quintana Roo who was recently extradited to the US to face charges. He was arrested and convicted here in Mexico in 2001.)

HaHa ok I will admit I don't read everything 100% everytime, I've always been a skimmer when it comes to reading. I was thinking those names in Georgia didn't sound familiar. Anyway I wish they would stop talking about travel to Mexico everytime it's summer time and they know people are going to be traveling.

    You got me powderfinger :blueshock:
