2 headless bodies were found in Cancun at 5am today- according to the local radio. Also 3 more discovered in Acapulco yesterday. No doubt this will reach CNN and again destroy the reputation of Mexico further.

Can't find anything online about it yet. I'll keep an eye out, though. Crossing my fingers and hoping it's not true. Very sad :(

I hope Michelle Malkin gets wind of this. At least if she writes about it, nobody will take the news seriously.

This happens here more than most of us realize. And it rarely makes it into the English news.

Yeah... I guess the only thing that makes it potentially US newsworthy is the decapitated part.. as if that make its something more than a murder.... and that it happened in that horrible Mexican death trap they call Cancun (sic)... the sex-changed transvestite bit seems sort of odd for a "drug related" killing... assuming its not blatant false reporting as sometimes (often/always) goes on to make it more sensational...

I've said before, if you want to kill someone, now is the time, just dump them on the side of the road since the police will call it part of the drug war and therefor not even pretend to investigate it.... decapitate the body and you'll be sure they will lump it in with the "war" and wash their hands of it.

I agree that just as the first thing that Americans think of is "terrorism," the first thing here is "narco" and everything gets blamed on that. I also agree that the operative word for it to get international coverage is "beheaded" and I think we have only had one here and that one made it while a lot of other murders are just blamed on "ajuste de cuentas" and it is business as usual.

Any other problem is just blamed on the "zetas" or the "matazetas" and anyone who gets arrested just says he is a zeta while he may be just a common thief. Here is the original article mentioned Encuentran dos decapitados en Cancún | Milenio.com

Well a woman was beheaded here by the Zetas in November (I think it was November) and it didn't make it into the English news that I saw. And there've been other sensationalistic killings here that don't make it into the English news.

I think people assume Cancun is dangerous regardless of the actual news, and I think the actual news (in English) ignores what's actually going on here.
