Steve, I agree with you that prepaying, doing all the collecting, and then reimbursing if the trip doesn't go, would be a major headache.

Perhaps a "commitment form" might be helpful? To reinforce their commitment to show up or at least pay you for their reservation, should they decide not to go.

Have the document down-loadable on the website and people reserving must sign, scan and return it to you when making a reservation.

    Something like:

I, the undersigned, commit to covering the cost of reserving for _____ individuals for the Booze Cruise scheduled for ____________, 2010.

I understand that costs are incurred in advance by the organizer of this event.

I promise that I will show up, at the appointed time, to make good on the payment of our reservation, regardless of whether I/we choose to participate at that time or not.

I understand that if I do not fulfill this pledge this signed document will be posted on the Cancuncare Website "Wall of Shame" for all to see what an inconsiderate jerk I am.

    Steve,
My sympathy goes out to you as I know you work your ass off to arrange these. You take a least a day of life from your family and work. I have tried for many years to attend a Boob's Cruise and we were lucky enough to go last year and Pam and I loved it. We were going again the day before we left and canceled with you prior to that as the trip can drain you with all the fun and sun. You respected our request and said that you agreed that it was not easy if we were going to leave early the next morning. You even said you would give us a discount prior to that for going twice in one week. HURRAY to you.
    Now,
Why is it that you are dealing with adults and they are no shows. GEEEZZZ, I make a committment and stick to it if at all possible, if I can't, I will let them know early. Damn I totally understand why you are pissed as you have to be the bearer of bad news and it can reflect on you even though it is totally not your fault.

I think, you need to raise your price to say 70.00 and have them sign a contract and pay in advance, if they are no shows or do not inform you 48 hours before the department date they forfeit all. That way the cruise is paid for if only 13 people show up. It would be to your descrection for the reimbursement if they cancel prior to the 48 hours.
On a second note you could have one person contract the cruise with you and collect the money and send you the money on some wire transfer or whatever. They could either send it to you as it comes in or all at once a week prior to the Cruise.

Just my thoughts for a friend and a wonderful family... Love the Brits

    Don

We weren't going on the cruise, but we asked some people that were and they heard it was cancelled. We felt bad for you, Steve, when Glenn told us it was on, but only 13 people showed up! We told him we would be willing to throw in some money for you to cover at least your costs... We love the website and everything you do for the fun people on the site...

    pre-payment

As newbies this year, Steve's boob cruise was the only thing that we committed ourselves to before we left home. We were a few short on the day due to a few not showing up, but it went ahead. We made new friends, met lovely people from here on the day and had such a blast! As we passed other boats they all cheered us and I am sure that they wished they were on ours!!! I would have happily paid up front, is there anything you can do without paying up front???? The ones that say they are going and don't turn up would be the ones out of pocket! We could all pay through Pay Pal and put it down as a Personal payment, this does not incur any charges!(Just leave the message box blank, then there is no reference to what it's for)Then on the very rare occasion that it is canceled Steve could do the same and transfer it back!

Just another thought, you lot that didn't turn up, you know who you are! Do the decent thing and send Steve the money to cover your costs, its such a shame that you lot could ruin it for everyone else.

Steve I am already looking forward to next year!! Please don't stop doing the cruises!

Let me start by saying, We have never been to TTR(1st time in 15 days, but who is counting), so if I am out of line I apologize. I thought TTR was "adults only". I don't even let my children break committments. We talked about doing Steve's cruise because everyone made it sound like such fun. We didn't COMMITT because everyone made the pool sound like such fun and we were not sure we would want to leave. Instead of screwing Steve, we decided if we wanted to do the cruise afterall we would try and arrange once we arrived. Never crossed our minds to save a spot and then decide. Steve, I haven't had the pleasure of meeting you, but you sound like a great guy that got taken advantage of. You shouldn't have to shame adults into living up to their committments.

Yes, it seems unfortunate to go to that length. But ultimately, Steve needs a count of people before going ahead with making arrangements. and it's his money on the line.

I got the idea from a little rural grocery store I was in once. The owner was having problems with bounced cheques (checks for you Americans...lol). So he started stapling them to the wall behind him for all to see. Suddenly, all the cheques he received were good....

    No Shows.......

To me it's pretty basic, my word is my bond, so is my handshake...........If you decide not to keep your word then MAN UP and crawl down to the lobby, hand Steve your promised money, then crawl back to your room or whatever and crash......:aktion060:
