alot of reviews say that the resorts block out the sun on the beaches mid-afternoon each day.

where is a good spot to get some mid/late afternoon sun and watch the sunsets???

    thanks

Umm.. on the other side of the resort? lol....just kidding.

Not likely to get those "sunsets over the water" shots in Cancun in many places. You are facing east looking at the water. Though the west side of the islands (Ilsa Mujeras and Cozumel) would provide those views.

There is still plenty of sun late afternoon at Temptation if that's where you are going.

I have noticed that the resorts block the sun around their pool areas mid to late afternoons..depends on how the building is designed. The beaches seem to have sun til the sun stats to set. And you can get nice pictures if you are someplace that overlooks the lagoon, as Brewster points out, the Ocean is on the east side of the buildings. Pat O'brians has a nice Deck..as do many other restaurants.

hmmm, I was coming back from Isla Mujeres a few weeks ago and noticed that the Riu Palace and Cancun had zero sun on there beaches and pools. That may be because of their positioning. What I would do is go to the Hotels forum, look up the Caribe and contact someone that stayed there through PM.

You will be able to enjoy the afternoon sun anywhere in Cancun..the beach is huge so you should have no problem getting enough...besides most everyone is pretty much done by 4pm...get back to room, take a nap and get ready to go out...

According to the many reviews that I've read, it seems to affect hotels on the top end of the seven and definitely the Riu Cancun and Riu Palace. It's not so much of a issue during the summer months as the sun is much higher in the sky. Never had a problem when we've been to the Riu Cancun in May, all though the quite pool started to lose the sun around 2-30pm.

Only 24 more working days to go, wishing my life away.
