Yes, let's don't do a gun debate. I have very strong opinions on the subject and don't want us to divide up sides and start smelling *ssholes. Marsh
Not offended at all, just found it odd that a Canadian anti-gunner was trying to tell me what the 2nd amendment means. Especially when the Supreme Court recently reaffirmed what it means.
I'd back off on the Canadian comparison's, Ian was goofing and not looking for a debate regarding Gun Control, in fact the jest of his post was the comparison's between this whole post surrounding camera control and how gun control in the States is very similarily ruled by emotions. He wasn't being judgemental at all. Now you have waded in not upholding your right to bear arms, but rather bad mouthing your neighbours north of the border and that is not called for. There is plenty other posts going on surrounding the differences between Americans and Canadians, most of it surrounding health care, some of it surrounding Hockey (and our status as the number 1 hockey power in the world), however you are attempting to start a debate around gun control and trying to goad some of us into it. Relax a bit...take a deep breath and tell us how you feel about cameras around the sexy pool...
*L*.. and I found it odd that everyone always quotes only half of the second amendment and calls it a GOD given right. but I'm leaving for the weekend... so y'all have a good night and don't shoot anyone *LOL*
B&B... I should have known better than to mention it even in jest.... thanks for the backup though. Have a great weekend guys and we hope to cum to Niagra this year. :mnm:
Actually, Ian is part of the Canadian Militia, so here you go again, labelling someone as a "Canadian Anti-Gunner", when you don't know what you are talking about. I realize you just joined this community in Feb, Ian has been around for about 4 years, if you want to get to know his views, read up some of the history of his posts, very easily done, if you don't have the time or inclination, then back off on the personal insults.
As my modus operandi in this thread has evolved to poke fun where I can allow me to demonstrate some of the more effective weapons Canadians have at their disposal. and our most powerful and feared soldiers... complete with great medical care! Also, Masada you may not realize how much the gun debate in Canada is framed by what happens in the USA. Not to understate it but I probably am as well informed about the American political system as I am about my own. All of the major American networks, CNN, Fox News etc are a staple of our cable packages along with Canadian equivalents. I have always had no problem with long guns for hunting etc. and I wouldn't personally like to keep a gun in my home. But that's my choice. One of the funniest things I ever saw was a sign outside of the Mall of America telling people that they couldn't bring their guns inside. I thought it was funny, from my point of view, that you actually needed a sign to tell people that. Many Canadians like to comment on American political topics because well, we are pretty well informed because of our proximity and shared cultures. May I end with, never trust a gopher... it may be part of the Saskatchewan Army.
I was just reading through thinking... hhmmmm where's Rob??? Knew you wouldn't be long. :huepfen013: Lynfa x
