If you want to cross the border easily, I suggest Piedras Negras. Of course you may prefer to stay behind a lot of trucks...

I don't know where they go (Laredo?) but there were so many on the road, and none at the border, only 2 cars ahead of me. The full story lasted less than 30 minutes :huepfen013:. They didn't ask me for a Mexican ID, no paper at all (only my Canadian passport), no driver license, no proof of insurance, I didn't fill in anything. They wanted to check the car, so I went to park it, and they opened the trunk :icon_surprised:. Horror!!! They had 2 options: check every single thing, and we were going for the day, or.... check a few boxes, which they did. Asked a few questions, what I wanted to do there, why, for how long. Not even an address in the US. So, I GUESS I have 6 months, but nothing is written on my passport... arrrgggg...

The most difficult has been to lock the trunk :icon_biggrin:, I had to do it myself!!!!! Then the guy told me "you are FREE". Oh the wonderful word, and yes, I feel this way, and more and more.

I am in Houston tonight, drove around 3600 kms. Oh, there must be a new definition for "mile" that I was not aware of . It is written everywhere speed limit 70 or 75 mile/hour. I went with the flow.... and still driving at ~ 130-140. And I had been warned that the police was very strict in the US.... Someone can explain?

Anyway, last episode in a few days. I am a bit exhausted.

Glad to hear the shipment arrived safely, please report to Pablo at the arranged time and place for handover and to receive your fee.

Seriously though, glad you made it there ok and I wish you all the best for whatever roads you travel next.

Glad your crossing was easy. The border is so busy that they seriously cannot check every vehicle that crosses it. I'm glad they didn't give you any grief.

When Americans get all excited about their stupid border wall and about keeping out the Mexican wetbacks I always want to ask them if they've ever seen the traffic at a border crossing? If they had they would think differently about their dumb wall, I think.

First off, congrats on your trip!

80 m/h (130 km/h) is pretty typical on US freeways, even if the posted speed is 70. Will you get a ticket at the speed? It will happen sooner or later.

Speeds are enforced much more rigidly on secondary highways (often called state or county highways) and in smaller cities/towns.

If you aren't driving 80 m/h on the freeways in most big cities (when traffic isn't at a dead stop) you're likely to get run off the road :)

    Welcome to the US

In some places in the US it's standard for cops to let you go 9 miles per hour over the limit before ticketing you...or so people say...now if you count on that you will probably be sorry.

    Hola Esteban,

Sorry to say that Pablo was not at the meeting. It seems he had a problem and got to Fatherland. El Jefe Jesus was there instead, claimed it was not the highest quality, and didn't give the fee. If you want the service again in the future, please provide what was agreed upon. :wink3:

Glad to hear things are going well. I also learned the "9-mile-over-the-speed-limit" rule from my Dad as well as "always go with the flow of traffic." So if everyone is going 150 mph, who are they going to stop? LOL

    Keep having a good time.
