After Dave read some of these threads about the issues at TTR he's concerned that there is very limited evening entertainment and fun in the evenings at TTR and now he wants to switch to Desire where we've been told that there is always great fun at Desire well into the night. Have any of you been to both places so that you can compare them for us? Any help is much appreciated! Ellie:mermaid:
Some differences between these two resorts.. depends on what your expectations are..Desire is clothing optional.. has a disco and a play room.. a lot more lifestyle people... theme nights.. food and drink is top notch..but expensive TTR has a disco, theme nights. food and drink really good and its affordable...I think all resorts have some! issues...you cant please every one all the time I say... there are really no issues at TTR that we have experienced..people keep comming back year after year.. we were there last year and had a blast.. we did however book this year at the Los Cobos TTR but yesterday changed our minds and rebooked at TTR cancun..there really is only one way to find out about these resort.. and that is check them out.. I think every person or couple has a different experience... its all what you make of it..
The difference in cost is not an issue. We just want to have a great vacation. TTR has been slamned on here for the past week or so about being dead at night. Desire dosn't have that reputation at all. The lifestyle piece isn't a determing factor for us at all and the c/o piece while fun isn't a requirement either. I just don't want to have to leave the resort to have a great night life. Incidentally......the off resort costs that we'll incur at TTR may well pay for the added expense at Desire.
If you want fun & sex with others go to Desire but if you want a fun time go to TTR cancun. People seem to think that sex is freely available at TTR but unless your willing to do anybody it isn't. We tried booking a week at Desire to have some swinging fun and a week at TTR to meet up with some friends but Desire was fully booked sadly.
you don't HAVE TO swing at either place...........we're not swingers........that's not to say we don't enjoy other's.....we just don't like the lable at all. We would prefer a resort that we can stay on al night w/o having to go into town every night. TTR seems as though it's sidewalks roll up at 10pm and if that's true....that SUX!
Really the secret to having a great time at either TTR or Desire is to make some advanced contact with others that will be there with you during your vacation - either through this forum, the Desire forum or through specific Yahoo travel groups set up for the resort/month/week. Desire room count wise is about one third the size of Temptations and the vibe is more intimate, laid back and sensual compared to the party atmosphere of TTR. Desire is couples only, no singles allowed. There is nightly entertainment at Desire and the on site Disco opens a 10pm and goes until about 2am (the lobby bar is open 24/7 and you can get snacks/fresh baked pizza until the wee hours of the morning) - then of course the party continues in the upstairs Jacuzzi / bar area until 3am or sometime later....... Finally, besides being clothing optional at Desire you will find a lot more open PDA/PDS. If you are uncomfortable with possibly viewing and or participating then you should consider TTR where open PDA/PDS is minimal. They are both great resorts - just different, and appeal to somewhat different crowds - go with what your gut tells you will be comfortable with, but I'm sure you would have a great time at either place since it is easy to meet and make new friends at either place compared to other vanilla resorts.
thanks Coke............we'll have to decide......nothing about Desire offends us in anyway........we just want a fun vibe.....party is a plus............but don't want to have to leave the resort to find it. We play well with others....make friends easily and dave has never met a stranger. I guess we're concerned with nothing to do at TTR much past 10pm.
Just a thought - over all the years, the best vacations for us have always been because of times with friends / or new friends we have just met - not because of organized resort activities.......
Totally agree... Like I posted on another thread... Finding the right group of people to hang with will make the resort that much better.
Last Septemeber we were still drinking with friends at 4am in the patio bar plus there was still people left there when we went to bed. It's definatley all about the crowd you are with, there was some there we could have chatted and drank with until the sun came up. In our 14 night stay we only left the resort 4 times to go to a club or a Friday night booze cruise which is a pretty good percentage. Dave and Ellie, sorry about the swinger reference but as you have sex with others we thought you were swingers but if you don't like the label that's fine.
