I hear ya there...... TTR seems like a place for many here to blow off steam away from the kids (love them)... On a sidenote It's been very cold the past 3 months in FLORIDA and miss the beach and my pool always good to keep a few pounds off, been inside too much. Looking forward to spending some time at the family beach condo in the real near future. If not anything my motto is TANNED FAT is better than white fat....and shaved tan fat is even better (**if I -we can't get down completely to my vacation weight)
I wouldnt say I try to get in shape specifically for a trip... but I do try to stay in decent shape. I dont eat real healthy.. so that makes it tough. I usually go with 45 minutes of cardio (on days that I dont play hockey) and at least an hour of strength/weight training.
:icon_mrgreen:No, I don't make any special effort to get in shape! Whatever happened to nobody knows you and nobody gives a s***!? That said, I'm at the gym 5-6 days a week all year round! Except when I'm on vacation! Being consistent really helps..
I've lost 35 lbs since august (gone from a sz 18 to a 12/few 10s), and am going to run a half marathon next sunday! I'm getting in better shape but have a long way to go still! Luckily we won't be there till June so I'll keep behaving till then! I'm great at working out but always need help with the booze because I sell it for a living!!!!! :ernaehrung015: My husband Kevin has been in perfect shape since I have met him! Course he didn't have 3 kids including twins and 2 c/sections! LOL. This will be our first trip to Temptation and I can't wait!
This is been one of the best winters but the cold does keep us inside. So right about tanned fat looking better.........got me a bronze hue going at this very moment.
You list a lot of good activities so maybe it is about the type of food? The older you get the more the type of food matters.
A lot of the weight gain from vacation comes from food high in sodium, causing you to retain water. The Plus side is Alcohol is diuretic, and tells your kidneys bypass sodium and in turn dehydrating your body. So the key is to eat plenty of salty chips and guac, and drink more???? That is a good mix for dehydration and heat stroke... I do Cross-Fit 5 days a week, I only started cutting carbs the last two weeks.. 6 pack should be out by 10:00 A.M. when we arrive at TTR...
I have been dieting and working out 4-5 days a week since December 1st trying to get off the extra weight I put on during medical school and the first half of residency. So far I have lost 30 lbs. I'm still 25 lbs away from my goal, so I probably won't be able to get there by the time April 17th comes. Guess I will have to be satisfied with turning a keg into a pony keg.
You are correct Dan, I compete and ppl always ask what they need to do in the gym and I tell them that about 80% of your appearance comes from what u do outside the gym. U work out for an hour and a half a day and have the other 22 and a half to worry about eating properly.
