    First things first.....Hello everyone!

I've been lurking about and reading up on things before my first trip to cancun and I was looking for some experienced perspective on the weather forecast

My girlfriend and I will be there 2/23 to 3/3

Now i know with tropical locations the forecasts should be taken with a grain or two of sea salt....but I'm really worried that it's going to rain most of my trip based on what I'm seeing.

Please tell me we'll have some sun!!!!

great site and thanks for all the good info

The forcast on my TV here has said rain for the last two days, and it was bright and sunny. For the most part. Brief shower downtown yesterday. You still have a few days and things change practically over night. Even if it rains, it won't be your entire trip. And on the chance you get a rain day, do to the mall and see a movie. That's what I do!!!

I was thinking the exact same thing......when I go to National and Local Weather Forecast, Hurricane, Radar and Report it mentions rain from the 20th-27th (the whole time I'm there).

As it turns out my father is in Peurto Vallarta (sp?) and its pouring there as we speak and he is there all the time and never seen it rain in PV.

I'm crossing my fingers and toes that its sunny the whole time...........

Its not unusual to have a shower or two during the day or evening that lasts a few minutes. Do not worry about the forecast. You will have sunshine most days throughout the entire day then a short shower and back to no clouds for the rest of the night.

daughter is there now, and she says she's not sunbathed 1 day yet.

They have had a good time as they are on honeymoon, and have done quite a few trips, but said weather wise it's been awful.

Yes, weather is not great at the moment. Today it's barely gone above 70 and has rained on and off most the day.

Been a strange year weatherwise so far. I'd say of the 7 weeks or so of 2010 only 3 have been what I'd consider good weather.

It seems this year is not so normal. Not that it is cold but colder than usual.

I think you guys will be good to go as the conditions seem to be improving.

FOR DAVE TOWER: BRING SUNSCREEN. IT IS DEADLY EXPENSIVE HERE COMPARED TO WALMART IN THE STATES.

AND THINK POSITIVE DUDE. No matter where you are from, a lousy day in Cancun is better than a great day most anywhere else. Except for Boulder CO according to Rivergirl. (Private joke)

Cheers to that!! But that only applies to me in the winter, we have a pretty good beach town here and we have lots of tourist all spring, summer and fall, it is a rocking place. I would never consider leaving here for vacation, except for January and February.

Back to the topic, the best advise is not to look at the weather forecast because it changes everyday for the Yucatan. I remember years ago I watched the forecast everyday leading up to our trip and rain was forecasted everyday and in the end it never rained once. Since then I have never looked at the weather forecast again before I go to Mexico.

If for some chance that it does rain it will be a 10 minute shower and the sun will be right back out. I was in Akumal Mexico the week of the 9th-15th and the weather was up and down, hot and humid one day and a bit cooler and low humidity the next. It was that way all week, we did get two rain showers, both lasted 10 minutes. I actually loved the weather, I still managed to get sun burned, even applying sun block all day. You will be fine, just get on the plane and get ready to party.
