I'm told that you can't catch the R 1 bus to Puerto Juarez from the hotel zone anymore, is this true. I know to look for the R 1 bus with Puerto Juarez in the front window. I am now told that you have to catch a bus down town and then catch a Taxi or van to the port and reversed on the way back to the hotel zone. We've done this trip many times in the past and wouldn't like to be waiting for a bus that's never going to arrive. Help anyone.
yeah in march of 2009 (last spring break) we took a bus to what said "puerto juarez" on the front, to take the ferry to isla mujeres.... everything was going good until the bus driver told us that since the bus was empty, he couldnt go any further. he set us up with a bunch of locals packed in a white van(yes like a bunch of mexicans, no offense) lol.... and we took a short uncomfortable ride to the port.
No scam...they don't have transfers in Cancun. There is the R1 that goes all the way there, but it's not all that often. So if you don't mind sitting around and reading all the R1 to see if they have Puerto Juarez on the window, then I would pay twice.
Well your driver was an a hole. The last bus I was on had three people including me once we turned off Tulum and he took us up to the port.
what would a taxi charge from say the riu's to the port then. I thought that the port for the ferry was walkable. :sofa::sofa:we are hiding from that a hole ha ha.
I'm not sure what the price of a taxi would be to Puerto Juarez. I would guess somewhere near $10 or $12 US. I believe there is a ferry very near the RIU's, right next to Macambo retaurant, that isn't much more expensive then the ones from Puerto Juarez. There are also ferries from Playa Tortuga and the Embacadero, both of which are easily accessible by bus. You may want to check out the prices and schedules.
so is there a ferry that goes to isla mujeres within walking distance of the rius then, and is there a timetable somewhere that can be downloaded for it. I'm sure I read it on here somewhere that there was one but I just cannot seem to find the thread again sorry barnstyke I hope you do not think I am hijacking your thread as it seems we are after the same end product.
