I leave my computer for one day and Mike goes off an a swing tangent.

OH! by the way, we are IN, Sybian or swing doesn't matter:fish:
Note to self, stay just sober enough to remember to keep one camera focused on Mike the whole trip.

We were about to send mike a friend request as we are there the same time as him and I find his posts hillarious. However, after this one we are frankly quite scared of him.

Ha, just playing around. I can't stop checking out the site as you never know what will be discussed next. Very entertaining.

...currently designing PVC pipe system to be made as practice for possible replication in Cancun or possible deployment. I think I can make it lighter than anything commercially available.

If this is the solution I think I won't really be satisfied. I am looking for something elegant and maybe comical.

Don't be afraid. I am completely normal. As an example-
I just got done doing the math to find that if I can fill 450 helium ballons 2' in diameter I don't need to secure it to the ceiling to hold Christens weight plus the swing.

I could also do it with one 15' ballon. But that won't fit in the room and if I ever let her go there would be hell to pay.

Here is a neat little bit of trivia.. If you had a cube of air 100' per side (LxWxH) how much would it weigh? Don't do any math just guess. I'll give you the answer after a few people have guessed. Oh, and if you fly hot air ballons please do not guess, you'll ruin it.

Be careful with pvc piping, while it is lightweight, joints have always been a nemesis of mine. I have found that if the cement is not given a couple days at least to fuse the pipe, there is little strength. Don't ask me how I discovered this, but I assure you that the discovery was made at the expense of a big bad bruise on a ladies bottom....

    Pvc

Unless you are going to use something like 2" high pressure stuff dont think it will stand up to well lets just say alot of stress...and that stuff will be hard to find in cancun i bet.

You had to be that guy. I almost stuck in a comment to prevent you mass vs weight people from getting all technical.:deadhorse:
    I guess I should have.

In terms that Scott would approve of, a 100' cube of air would have a mass of 42 tons. Think about that for a monent.

I am starting to agree. I have a solution to some of the pvc weakness problems at the joints but in order to use them I have to give up some funtionality. The parts are also too long to be packed.

    Bag it and start over.

So far I like mighty putty for functionality and humor but it loses points for damage, and permanance of location. I think 4 points of connection of maybe 6 square inches would work. The problem would be getting them off unnoticed. In my view multiple points would be needed to keep it mostly in shear not tension.

We have 3 weeks to solve this, thats alot of time.
