Hi we will be making an Isla Mujeres day trip while we are there, we have stayed on Isla a few times and have always taken the Ultra Mar high speed ferry from Grand Puerto it is cheap, quick and leaves every half hour.
When we stayed at BBG in 2004 there was a boat that went to Isla right from the dock at the hotel.

To the people that have Day tripped to Isla what is the best way to get to Isla from Temptation?

We want to get there fairly early.

Hi! We have went both ways in the past and enjoyed both ways. I think which way you want to go to is going to depend on how you want your day to go.

Taking the ferry over is very cheap (YEAH!) but you are on your own 100%. That can be good and bad depending on what you want. You are on noone else's time schedual to enjoy the island and can come and go as you please. You see what you want, do what you want, eat what you want. When G & I went we rented a golf cart and rode around the island sipping beers and taking in the sites. Did a little shopping and played on the beach. It was a very nice day and relaxing.

Our next trip we went on the booze cruise with the group next door. If you go on a Tues and Thurs they make specific boats just for people from TTR so there are no kids with you. It makes for a nice :lotsofmichaelfs:atmosphere. With people you have been getting to know or will be getting to know and who are like minded (they did come to TTR to have a blast too!). It is more expensive than riding the ferry but you do get entertainment, booze, lunch and spinnaker rides (also you can swim with a nurse shark). It was a BLAST! But G & I did almost get left behind after the shopping portion. (oops!)

There is a third option...the owner of this forum frequently puts on his own booze cruises & I understand they are stuff of legends! :mnm:

We went to Isla Mujeres in Oct. for a day trip. We took the UltraMar ferry from Puerto Juarez which is near the Blue Bay Club. About a 10 min taxi ride from TTR. Cost is now $14 RT per person. I believe the ferry starts running @ 6:00 am & runs til Midnight. I know they run every hour & during peak times every 1/2 hour. A great time that we highly recommend.

Never been there, but isn't the ferry almost within walking distance of the hotel?

Went to the island last year for a day trip with a cruise another resort offered, had a great time, really fun haggling for beers at some little dive bar on the beach, I think we got 5 beers for a quarter each!

We have planned, subject to chance of course, do to the Isla on Tue, Feb 2. Leaning towards the ferry rather then a booze cruise. Looks like we will more then enough chances to drink and would like to do the Isla on our own timetable. Let us know if anyone else is interested.

A day trip to Isla is also in our plans. Since we are missing Steve's booze cruise we were leaning towards another booze cruise hopefully with TTR/CC guests. We have done this before and it kinda kills two birds with one stone.

However the timetable remarks are valid too.

On the other hand, you get a boat ride, party, lunch, shopping and a social event all in one afternoon. While spending a short time in Cancun, we like the time management plus.

We also find that a day at the sexy pool is very relaxing and everytime we miss a day while we are there we hear of the events that we missed that day.

One of these trips we will go for broke and spend two weeks there not one. One week just goes too quick.

With all that said, we will wait to get together at TTR to see what works at the time. We are there Sun 1/31 - Mon 2/8.
