I'm debating whether or not I'm gonna bring my phone. There are arguments to be made on both sides. Either way obviously I'll be at oasis with andrew and such so I'm sure we wont have an issue.
lol i have ATT tilt, and mitch has a G1. i always bring my laptop to cancun, so someone can messege me on facebook to set something up or whatever, or use facebook chat, what if i jailbreak my phone and purchase a mexican sim card lol would that do anything
No need jailbreak your phone. Mexican sim card will only save you money if you plan to only making calls to Meixcan numbers. It (probably) won't have data access and you still have to pay long distance rate if you call a non Mexican number. If you have a smartphone, best thing to do is to call your phone company and tell them that you are going to be going out of the country and ask them about your international data options. For sprint, they have an unlimited international data plan. It costs a little more per month but it's prorated so I switch to it when I leave the country and switch back when I get home. It only end up costing me about $1 more per day. With that, I get unlimited international data roaming so I can email, check fb, browse web, watch youtube, send/receive blackberry IM, etc without having to pay more than what I pay for the temporary plan upgrade. There is no such a thing as unlimited international voice roaming (ie you have to pay per min and it costs an arm and a leg) so I simply just don't call or answer calls with my phone when I'm in Mexico. If your phone company doesn't have unlmited international data plan, then find out how much international data roaming cost per MB. You can go that route too if it's not too expensive. You just have to be careful with your usage. Don't browse the web and download big attachments and do any that involves large amount of data transfer. If you only use it for txt email, those are like 1/100 MB each and shouldn't cost much at all.
Okay, in that case, maybe I'll just stick with my original flights and go with you guys instead of Andrew/Steve. I don't really care either way. Why don't we wait till the week of and figure this out then.
