I'm coming down to Cancun in April for a conference and staying for 4 days after the conference. Unfortunately the people I'm going to the conference with can't stay after, so I will be by myself for the rest of the week.

I was trying to get some advice on which hotel would be the best to stay at. I would definitely be looking to go out a lot and have a good time. I'm 27, so you really like a place with a younger adult crowd. Based on what I've read on the forums here are some of the places that I was thinking.

    Riu Cancun
    Golden Parnassus
Oasis or Grand Oasis - it seems that these are further away from the clubs, how easy is it to get back and forth?
Temptations - this seems like it is mostly a couples place, but I do really like the fact that the hotel get groups together to go to the clubs. Do any of the other hotels do this?

Thanks in advance. I haven't been to Cancun since my senior trip in high school, so I do remember a whole lot.

I've traveled to Cancun a few times solo and out of your choices I would go to the Riu Cancun. Walking distance to clubs, good food, activities by pool (beds a lil hard tho). When I was there I know they did take groups to the clubs also but being walking distance you can check out lots of cool bars(Slices, Corona Bar) on your own.

If you are a younger guy, my suggestion would be the Oasis. It is the hot spot during spring break and I would imagine that some singles and young folks vacation there all year. As far as the bars go, I know when I stayed at the Melia Turquesa years ago (Now the ME) we would sit at the lounge and people at the hotel would arrange bus trips to the bars around 10pm. It would cost like $40 US and you would get a ride to and from the bars downtown, open bar and your cover. I would imagine that most places probably do this still. If not the buses run by the hotels like every 7 minutes and it is 60 pesos and it will take you down town in just a few minutes. Never worry about getting down to the bars!!!

Both great suggestions. When are you staying in April? Earlier April will definitely have more Spring Breakers, and thus the Oasis can be an awesomely crazy time then. If you're going for party time and plan on not returning to the hotel before 6AM - and then heading out early for beach debauchery, then the Oasis is perfect. Transportation is not an issue - the bus is easy and is less than $1 US each way. If you plan on getting some sleep and would be upset if people on both sides of you are partying at 4AM, the Oasis isn't the right choice.

I ended up getting a great deal on the Golden Parnassus with flight in mid-March, so I'm heading to Cancun then. It's a little closer to the action, has a better all-inclusive, and I'll pick up party passes for the Oasis (day passes) a couple of days during the week that I'm there. Next year (or perhaps later this year) will most likely be the Oasis for me...

If you are looking for a more reasonably-paced vacation and all-inclusive isn't important to you, there have been a couple of awesome deals that have shown up at the Marriott - and these are some of the nicest hotel beds that I stay in...

Provide a little more information as to exactly what you're looking for and I'm sure you should get some additional suggestions.

I would like to intergect with staying at the Royal Solaris. I have friends on the Entertainment Team, and know you would enjoy your stay there. The food is good, beds are comfy, but it is south of the Party Zone. But with the buses in the HZ running 24/7, at 7 pesos, that should not be a deciding factor. They do have a set club they go to every night, with transportation there. The RIU also has a great Entertainment Team. So those are my two choices. Don't do the Oasis...it's not very clean, and the food is way below par. It's a party hotel, so if that is all you want, go for it.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I looking at the Rui Cancun and the Golden Paranassus. I think it will probably come down to those two. Still looking a little more.

Has anyone ever stayed at the Hilton? If not looking for the all-inclusive, and a property that is typically known for quality (and if you are a frequent traveler, a good one to have for points)...there seemed to be some ridiculous rates on this hotel...almost so good that I thought about returning in April and dining outside of the hotel more...

I don't know about the Hilton, but I have noticed the Aqua, it looks like a nice place and I don't think it is all inclusive. I have checked out the Hilton and the property looks really nice.

Tori B is right, you should look elsewhere. I don't know your budget, but if you want to stay at a nice place check out the Cancun Palace, I think you would really have a nice time there. Palace resorts are top notch.
