I have never understood the whole "saving" of chairs. If you were entitled to have a chair saved for you all day just in case you might want it, they would give you chair tags with your room key. If your using the chair and swimming along side, no problem, but getting up a 6 am to save a chair you might want at 12 seems very selfish. Why is this considered acceptable?

I agree to a certain degree, I/We book chairs early in the morning so that we get the most sun for the better half of the day... and in saying that we are allways down by the pool by 9-10am for the day minus lunch and sometimes breakfest. For those who go down and book a chair and don't show up untill noon I think that is wrong, however they are on holidays as well as you and they got up and did it

We usually spend almost all of our day by the pool, and yes we are one of the ones that reserves a chair at or well before 7 am. I see both sides of this subject, however it really get me when someone strolls down at noon and pulls a chair up off the beach and puts it right in front and blocks the view for a guest who has been in their chair or around the pool for hours. The bottom line is to get out early to get the best areas. There are way more chairs than there are prime spots around the sexy pool.

My husband usually goes down around 6 or so and saves the chairs for us but we are usually back down to the chairs by 9 or sometimes earlier, we have seen people save chairs and never seen anyone sit in them Thats just wrong

    More chairs needed!

I agree with you, Raven! I'd never claim a chair and take off which is probably why I usually never get one at Temptations. Last trip(nov. 2009), I don't think I ever sat at the Sexy Pool since I could never get a chair there. Sometimes, it was hard to find one "unreserved" chair anywhere.

People will not take kindly to having there stuff moved..........I get up every morning and save a chair......i don't go back to bed but i do workout and go for breakfast........... and well lots of others do too. I am beside the pool all day after that. I think it just goes on par with being at a resort...........early bird gets the best seats..........and some times we save chairs for our friends too. Especially our cancun care friends after all we all like to hang out together when we are there. I don't agree with people going back to sleep till noon...........and saving a chair while you sleep. I know people will always do it, but i want you to think how you would feel if your stuff was moved and you came down to find people in your chairs.

We usually set the alarm at 7:00am, go grab a couple of chairs, and then go back to bed 'till around 8:30 or 9:00... a few times, people have taken our chairs and said you can only save them for an hour! I don't argue, because I think they have a good point. Especially if they are GOOD looking!!!

I have only been away 2 times...both times I did not seem to have too much of a problem with seating. However....I still don't understand this logic.

What you are saying is that I could go down to the pool at say 9am, see 30 empty seats and not be able to sit at any of them because someone went out of their way at 6 am to reserve it for the day. What if I only want to sit at the pool for the hour? I should sit on nothing because I did not (or have friends to) save one and/or I chose to not waste a seat for an entire day so I could use it for the hour?
Yes we all are important and we are all on vacation, but this just seems selfish, no?

If I sit on someones reserved seat and they came to me and said they "reserved it" I would just move to the next empty reserved seat. You're saying that is rude. So I guess the bigger question is which person has the better manners?

Please note: I am a real softie and would never argue with someone over a chair, you can have it!

This is one of those nobody is completely correct areas. What we do have is a social norm. That social norm is that if you want a chair you reserve it. I reserve chairs and I make full use of them. It bothers me to see empty chairs around the pool, they should be full of party people not towels!

OTOH if people want to be around the pool and need a place to put their stuff no problem friend the more the merrier!

I have also had people take our stuff off our chairs while we were at lunch and those people were nowhere to be found... WTF is that?
