Oh Norma, can you give us some brief descriptions of what's there to do (or what you plan on doing) at Isla Mujeres, Playa Del Carmen and downtown? Since most people aren't familiar with what's there. It'll probably help them decide if they want to go.

true Henry, thanks... here it goes:

In playa del carmen, the main attraction id say its Playa Mamitas which is a beach where you go to chill they have a DJ and play lounge music most of the day, theres a beach club and you pay (cant remember how much) for using the bathroom and showers and stuff... pretty cool place, i love it there, they have a restaurant and bar so you can drink pretty much till the sun sets. The second main attraction is the main street called Quinta Avenida (5th ave) there are tons and tons of stores, and a MUST eat pizza, that you would find only with me :D lol

Now, Isla Mujeres is my favorite place ever... you get to the ferry dock in downtown cancun (puerto juarez), catch a ferry and once you're in the island you rent a golf cart (thats what i usually do) so can drive around the island while drinking, taking pics and stuff... touristy stuff... you can park the cart and just go chill in north beach where the ocean is pretty much like a pool... its just amazing, i love it there, around sun set have lunch in one of the little typical restaurants and head back to cancun for the clubs...

in downtown cancun... well i dont know... i'd go visit my friends hahahaha but there are lots of malls, bars... like any other town i guess lol

When my Dad was here in Ocober, we went down on a bus trip. We got a deal through an aquaintence, but I think originally, it was $70, and that included the bus, with two amazing tour guides, a stop at a Cenote, shopping, lunch, and then admission to Chichen Itza. The guides that took us down, were our guides there...and I have to say, that was the BEST tour I have ever been on. My Dad is a HUGE History buff and was blown away. I could get the company name if you want it.

I took a similar tour at a similar price two years ago. Definitely worth it, and nice to say that you did at least one "educational" venture while on Spring Break! There were some interesting things being sold by the small vendors there, also...

Some recommendations - there is a lot of walking, so wear very comfortable shoes. There are a lot of wide open areas there, so sunscreen is a good idea (might want to buy the bio-friendly one if there are Cenote tours first). This is not a great tour to be overly hungover as it is full-day and there is a long bus ride both ways (think it was around 90 minutes to two hours each way). If I remember, they did have beer on the bus, which alleviated my mini-hangover from the night before...

No beer on this tour...atleat beer that is free. At lunch, you have to pay for drinks...but the Mayan lunch is sssssssoooooooo amazing, especially the lime soup. But everything else you mention above is right on.

Norma, I talked to my friend here in Cancun. She wants me to pass her email onto you to give you the details. She might be giving you the "VIP" price. I will send you a PM now.

    Hang on guys.

I thought this was all about Norma setting up fun ad hoc trips for like minded people on a not for profit basis and that's why I supported it without jumping in with my own links for organised tours.

When tour companies start to become involved on a for profit basis then it's moving away from what I originally envisaged the intention of the thread was, and isn't very cool considering it's the very same services that I could offer myself.
