I spoke to my sister,Free,s stepmother yesterday and we are concerned that now it is dangerous for Free's family to come and vist him.Anita moved back to the USA for that reason.I hope that people in Cancun can visit him and support him while he is in prison. We are also hoping that the diplomatic links will make a difference.I heard that the prosecution has hired a Pyschological profiler to prove that Free has an aggresion problem. Why isnt he testing the aggressors who attacked him? What right do they have to make him do such a thing. Is this normal in Mexican legal cases?
I see they messed up the web address in the article and put .com instead of .net - bound to happen (wonder why they didn't register the .com in the first place instead of leaving it open for the other side to register :icon_rolleyes: )
The severity of the injuries sustained by the accuser has always presented a stumblingblock for the defense. The medical reports released, thus far, speak of six separate fractures of the face, and head, suggesting repeated and powerful blows. These facts alone make this a case for trial, unless it is settled, somehow, as there will be much for the judge to consider. Not really. Most country's laws allow the use of force in self-defense only so far as necessary to protect oneself. The idea that, following an attack, any level of response is permitted, and any degree of harm to the attacker justified, is not the law of the land.
V: I do not mean getting beaten to a pulp, but in Sweden(for example) we have the right to defend our selves to the extent that repeated attacks shall not reoccur, especially if the person attacked is outnumbered. I personally would make sure that anyone who attacks me unprovoked stays down, but then again: I wouldn't keep hitting/kicking once the person IS down. If to would ask most Swedes about this, then you would see that we are quite grateful to have that aspect of self defense IF required, especially since its VERY rare to carry any weapons(knives, batons, guns, knuckle irons etc.) Problem with cases like this one is that you have young men who are drunk and usually when several "friends" are involved, the pack mentality takes over... Regardless of the young mans injuries, he should most definitively be held responsible for starting the fight(as seen on the tape). I hear the nightclub is now in trouble and that the "prints" on the unedited video(used as evidence in favor of Free) have "magically disappeared", making it "questionable evidence".
The Ferrat twins call a press conference regarding the kidnapping of the lawyer Deslindan a los Ferrat en secuestro de abogado - Grupo SIPSE, sipse.com Read the article comments. Very interesting. Also, looks like this isn't the first time for Ferrat and an extranjero... http://www.noticaribe.com.mx/cancun/2006/12/protagoniza_regidor_una_rina.html
If you go on visit day, all prisoners are allowed to mingle amongst one another (female prisoners inluded). When you check in with the guards you give the name of one prisoner you are visiting. Most of the foreigners stick together, so when I went to visit Free on visit days from 9am until 4pm I would spend time with them as well. There was an American, an Italian couple (boyfriend/girlfriend), a Hungarian and a Greek. We would talk, play card games and so forth. As long as it was a visit day, I could see whoever it was that I wanted.
Ohhh if anyone does please let me know. I don't want to get involved in that because of my ties to the case. He keeps telling our family he wants to "talk" and sort this out, but we know it is because he wants to clear his family's name and nothing more.
This video almost makes me laugh because they put words in Free's mouth. As if there was audio in the elevator (and their isn't). For all we know they could have been talking about a boxing match. I am not saying that this sort of behavior is just but still, there is no audio, so bottom line, the only one who knows is Free and his friend. The Ferrats are grasping at straws here.
