Help, we are doing something diffrent this year we are staying in Cozumel for a week, getting on the ferry and going to Playa and than going to Temptations for the rest of our vacation. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get from Playa to Temptations? We will have our luggage so trying to make this as easy as possible for us. Thanks, Terry and Sue

Well, you basically have two options when it's all said and done:
    (1) Use public transportation
    (2) Use private transportation

On the latter, you could find a taxi to take you there, but it would be fairly expensive. From the airport to Playa the going rate is around $60-75 USD. Getting into the HZ would probably make that a good bit higher. I don't know for sure, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was $100+. It can be hard to find a taxi driver who will make this trip off the street, but there are those who do it (usually the drivers who own their own cab.)

Along the same lines, there are private transportation companies (several are recommended on this board) and they usually cost more than a taxi. The only time we've used this there was a group of 4 of us returning to Playa from the airport and it was $120 - but that was roundtrip (as our 2 guests had to go back to the airport.) I'm not sure how the rates differ for one way if they are offered, but most will arrange whatever kind of trip you need, so Playa to Temptations shouldn't be out of the question.

Option 1 will be the cheapest and the longest and depending on how you do it, more of a headache (or at least equally.) There are first class ADO buses (AC, TVs, underdeck luggage space) that run from Playa to Cancun Centro every 15 minutes from early until late. One way per person is 38 pesos. From the bus station in Cancun, you can hop onto the R2 line which goes into the HZ and right by Temptations (if I recall correctly.) That costs around...10 pesos per person? Can't remember exactly but it's not much. Taking the ADO bus would be no more headache than a cab IMO, although the trip is longer, but hauling around luggage on the Cancun city bus might be a pain...we've done it, but space is often limited.

Another new option, which we've not done, is a new bus line opened by ADO directly from Playa to the HZ. It was recently brought up in this thread: New ADO line from HZ to Playa. Apparently it's 60 pesos per person and the operating hours are far more limited than the regular Cancun Centro to Playa bus. The next time we head up to the HZ, this would be how we do it.

    Hope that helps!

That's good info from Coby the only things I would add are:

If you take the ADO bus to downtown Cancun then consider getting a taxi from the bus station to the hotel. Shouldn't cost more than 80 pesos and you wont have to cart your suitcases over to the bus stop and then drag them up and down the bus steps.

Private transfer would be a lot easier and more comfortable but should cost around $90 one way. (based on one way to Playa del Carmen from the airport being $55, and one way to Cancun being $35 and they are opposite directions from the airport)
