I hear ya, it's been a HORRIBLE year for injuries, Pens were missing their entire defense at one point in addition to Malkin, Talbot and Kennedy. Seems now the injury bus is traveling through Detroit, that whole team is falling apart as well
Ugghh my Wild go 0-8 on their first away games, BUT we are turning it around. Did anyone see about their trip from Montreal to Ottawa? They took a bus, yep a damn bus, and the equipment truck started on fire and most of the team lost all of their equipment. Backstrom lost all of his goaltending gear and you all know how superstitious goalies can be. :bj: LMAO I just had to use this.....:umbrella1:
All these years on CC and I never got down here and found this thread. Now I see there are some other hockey nuts floating around. For me, I'm a die hard Sabres fan. This year they are looking pretty good with Miller playing out of his mind. Great beginning to the season, but the trick is to be hot in April, May and June. We'll see if they can do it. My background is one of a proud hockey parent. We went through the travel leagues here in Buffalo and then my son played in college at Penn State. He was also a goalie. I must admit I truly miss the fun times at the rinks even though it was a hassle traveling all over North America.
It hasn't been alot of fun watching the Wings so far. Not use to it being January and the Wings are out of a playoff spot. Hopefully that will change as we get some talent back!
It is a strange year this year. Detroit is struggling to make the playoffs, Carolina goes from good to terrible, and Phoenix goes from bankrupt to near the top. The one consistency is Toronto....they're always near the bottom. BTW, JoeP, I'm a BG grad, so I'm real familiar with your neck of the woods.
Well my Penguins can't seem to buy a win all of a sudden....same situation as last year they slumped in January...of course once they got going we all know how it ended up...lets hope the hockey Gods see us through one more time :angel1:
I watched the end of the Sabres/Pens game here in Buffalo. Pens went up 3-0 and then they just seem to fall apart. They almost looked disinterested. I was surprised how they just didn't have any spark. Maybe it is mid season doldrums, but I'm not sure. When I look at the talent on that team it is amazing that they could lose any games. My son played with Craig Patrick's son at Penn State and Brooks Orpik played for me in a couple of games in a summer league when he was just a kid. So I'm a partial Pen's fan with the connections.
The Buffalo Sabres are still in first place in the NorthEast Division and the Red Wings suck !!! What better can one hope for? Go Sabres! :mnm:
A Sabres fan on the other end of Lake Erie. Awesome!!! Do they allow you to root for any other teams over there in Wings country?
