Im looking to take around £1200 for 2 weeks.

I am thinking of converting or getting 100 $1 bills and maybe 50-100 $5 dollar bills just for tipping.

However, what is the equivalent to a $1 dollar tip in peso's.

Also, where am I most likely to encounter prices in peso or dollars? For instance in restaurants, supermarkets, excursions...so i can be prepared.

What denominations are best to carry for mexican peso's?

    advice appreciated

I take money out from the ATM, in peso. It's Mexico after all.

theres a few threads some pages back on what currency to take.. crowds pretty split on dollars vs. pesos. guess it all depends on the exchange rate

True. Ideally you want to carry both. But most people can't calculate the exchange rate fast enough in their head (especially when drunk) when they see the x peso/US$ y sign at a store or outside the club to know what's the cheaper currency to use. Much easier to just use peso. I'd say more than 50% of the time, the price in peso is the slightly cheaper price.

You said you were bringing £'s, so you're obviously a Brit and not used to US$. So, dont confuse yourself juggling 3 currencies 2 of which are unfamiliar in your head.

Besides it's much easier to divide by 20 (£ to pesos) than it is by 13 ($ to pesos).

Use Pesos if you're a Brit.

When you go to a club, what is the entry fee in dollars?

As I said, I will be bringing a mix of peso/Dollars.

Oh, and i wont get confused jiggling 2 sets of currencies. I can convert in my head at the drop of a hat. Im experienced due to years of travelling
