    Hi,

Does anyone happen to know the details of where i can get my car (Land Rover - Range Rover) serviced? I'm struggling to find the Land Rover dealer in Cancun on the web, i am sure there is one but i'm not getting anywhere.

    Thanks :)

According to www.landrover.com.mx the nearest factory authorized dealer is:
    LAND ROVER MERIDA
Prolongación Paseo de Montejo #325 ESQ. Calle 43, Col. Benito Juárez Norte
    Mérida - YUCATÁN - CP 97119
    Teléfono: 01 (999) 942-1450
    www.landrovermerida.com.mx

There's an indy foreign car repair shop behind Marcado 28 that gets good reviews. The next time I'm down that way I can get his number for you, but at the moment my car is in the shop and won't be out until Friday. :-|

    Sam.

The place here is on Tulum heading to the airport on the right after (can't believe I forgot the name of the old residential compound out there.) It's called Premier Auto Service. They are the authorized service center for Land Rover, Lincoln, Jaguar, Volvo and Mazda. What are or were in the Ford family.

They will also deal with any warranty stuff for you.

The number you need is: 882 2608.

Get ready to lighten the mattress!

Thanks for the info, i'll give them a call. I think i know the place you mean, i thought i saw a Land Rover sign, last time i headed towards the airport.

Yeah it's not going to be cheap, i'm currently trying to get some brake discs (all four) and not having much luck finding them, i found them in the states for $60 each but shipping is almost as much and god knows what customs will slap on top.

I don't suppose anyone knows where to source parts from and then i can get a local mechanic to fit them?

I think i'm stuck with doing the service at Land Rover themselves, biting the bullet as it were, three local attempts at fixing my air con have got me a working chiller for a whole of 12 hours maximum and the last guy messed with the electrics and worringly the orange engine light stays on, i'm hoping it's just the fuse housing playing up and not a problem with the actual engine.

Starting to regret buying this thing! Still it's very comfortable, performance is 10/10 and you can drive it up all the mountains in Cancun!! ;-)

Okay so Landrover Cancun quoted me 13600 pesos to fit and supply four brake discs!!! They said it costs 2600 per disc (Standard models) which is close to scandalous!

I had a number of a guy that finds hard to find car parts and he told me that brake discs don't exist for this year of range rover, obviously he's not very good at finding anything!!

So if anyone has any leads, numbers or places i can try to source these brake discs in Mexico, other than Landrover themselves, i would be very grateful.

Failing that i'm going to attempt to get them from the US and have a local mechanic fit them.

Life was stressful when i was trying to get 2 kids, prams and shopping into a Tsuru taxi but i don't remember it being this stressful or expensive!

I'd suggest you go by the "frenos" place on Chichen Itza, right south of the Crystal plant and TelCel office. He has a yellow sign out front that says "Frenos"... I've dealt with him a few times, and he's never broken anything or screwed me unlike just about all of the other places I've gone. The owner is Roberto and he can probably find what you need, or let you know if you even REALLY need new disks.... just because the indicator comes on doesn't mean you necessarily HAVE to change them out.... his number is 892-3208....

If all else fails you might just have to order them and get the cheapest insured shipping option... customs shouldn't charge more than 10 or 15 percent on autoparts... if they even charge at all (might be under NAFTA)

$13,600 is obscene.. even for a dealer!

Also check www.RockAuto.com for their best price. You might need to go a year up or a year down if you have an oddball model. Wouldn't hurt to read the sticker in the door to make sure you have the year you think you have.

Since Landrover Mexico www.landrover.com.mx/concesionarios.asp does not list the alleged Landrover Cancun at all, it would appear as though there is no factory association between them. You should at least speak to the nearest "official" dealer's parts department in Merida, although don't be surprised if the discs are not in stock.

I had a long conversation with the manager of the BMW dealership here in Cancun (they also have a dealership in Merida). My car has been at the dealer here for almost 3 weeks waiting for parts that I would consider stock items (a radiator and a brake line). He said that because of the stale economy, he has cut back on staff, inventory and parts. Sometimes the cost of living in Paradise can be high.

Thanks for that, i'll give him a call. I actually found autopartswarehouse.com to be alot cheaper than rockauto.com, however, i was considering shipping with the post office, their cheapest option as it was $170 cheaper than the insured option with Fedex ($268), although i don't know what happens if it went missing with the post office?

I'm going to check everything first before i go for it.
