We are going to TTR in July and we thought it might be a good idea to rent a car to travel across the Riviera Maya, down to Playa del Carmen and all those beautiful places.

Does anyone have experience renting a car in Cancun? is it necessary to get to know different beaches or is it better to go with hotel transfers?, is it safe to leave the car parked next to the beach?

How is the traffic overall in that area?

For anyone traveling soon, (between now and say, May 2022) are you doing anything in particular with the threat of war? I know the US, Canada and Mexico are not directly involved in anything yet, but things could change quickly.

We just got back from Cancun. Spent 5 days at Desire RM and 1 day at Aloft Cancun.

Aloft Cancun is in Cancun's Hotel Zone. It is a Marriott Bonvoy hotel, though many reviews will argue that it doesn't represent the Bonvoy brand well. I thought it was a great hotel.

Stumbled upon an interesting thread on TripAdvisor about tourists being detained (briefly) for either not having their FMM (aka Mexican tourist card) or staying beyond the allotted timeframe.

I asked this on the Cancun swingers' site and on Facebook, but did not get any good answers.

Are there swingers clubs (not resorts) in the Cancun area? I know everyone thinks Temptation or Desire but I am already staying at a "regular" resort. So I'm looking for a fun place to meet people, dance, maybe play, then leave and head back "home" (to our resort)

We have 2 of these in Cleveland and I know there are several clubs like this around the US and Canada.
